About me

Lisa Marie Chambers grew up in the Chicagoland area and is a proud Midwesterner. She attended undergrad and graduate school at Purdue University and attended law school at Valparaiso University in Indiana. Lisa Marie finds enormous satisfaction in guiding clients through the legal process with compassion, patience, empathy and a well-placed sense of humor.  In her work as a domestic and bankruptcy attorney, she has seen hundreds of clients come to her with stress, heartbreak and fear and she has been honored to help them start new chapters in their lives.

In law school, Lisa Marie spent a summer as a legal clerk at the Senior Law Project, a division of Indiana Legal Services that exclusively handed civil litigation matters for Indiana residents over the age of 65.  By motion of the Indiana Supreme Court, Lisa Marie was authorized to practice law at her school’s legal clinic where she represented a diverse group of clients in civil litigation matters, including contested and uncontested divorces, child support and contempt actions. Due to these experiences, Lisa Marie left law school with significant family law and courtroom experience. Lisa Marie practiced family law exclusively for four years in the Atlanta metro area before defending clients in federal court as a consumer bankruptcy attorney.  Lisa Marie was delighted to return to the practice of family law at Meriwether and Tharp in the summer of 2014.

In her free time, Lisa Marie enjoys running, art (creating, viewing and appreciating), reading (and always has a never ending “to-read” list), cooking, photography, trav
