Amazing Counsel, Warrior, Mentor, Friend

Steve is all these and more. He showed genuine care over my time-sensitive custody case and held my hand the entire way through this painful process. With him as my counsel, Steve helped me achieve the best result in what came out of my divorce/child custody battle. It was a complicated matter, ...as I took on a permanent change of station from Georgia to an overseas assignment. I went ahead of my family to make arrangements. During that time, my husband served me with a custody complaint from his home state (outside GA). When I called Steve about it, he passionately felt that we stood a chance contesting jurisdiction based on the UCCJEA, yet he was careful in giving me no promises up front. At this time I had another attorney representing me from the state holding this complaint over my head, and Steve was in lock-step with my other counsel, proving to be instrumental in getting this case dismissed from the other state. He successfully advocated for jurisdiction to remain with Georgia, helped me through a temporary hearing to have my daughter come home, and fought like hell in encouraging the judge to award me primary custody at our final hearing. Moreover, from officer to officer, he's expressed care about my career and was a powerful mentor for me. Although I endured all kinds of difficult emotions through this case, I truly appreciated its journey when it meant getting to work with Steve. If you need a strong, caring and honest attorney who will stand by your side regardless of the probability of the outcome, I don't recommend anyone other than Steve to have your back.

Knowledgeable-diligent. Answer to prayer!

Government’s Worst Nightmare

I hired Steve to represent me in a military case. Although I was offered a JAG attorney I decided to go with Steve. This was by far the best choice I made. Knowledgeable, caring and charismatic the government’s attorneys were no match. He literally had them shaking as they attempted to present their... case. It was no surprise that we won. Without question I would hire Steve again as well as recommend him to anyone having who is seeking representation in a military court. He is worth more than his fee. I should mention that he fee included him flying out of state for three days to handle my case. Great Job Steve!!

Absolutely the best law team for military personnel

I was recommended to Steve Shewmaker by several other attorneys that I reached out to. I was going through a divorce and was very close to retirement from the military, so I wanted someone who was very familiar with service member benefits and had experience in military law. Everyone recommended St...eve and his team. With Steve having served over 20 years in the military himself, he continues to portray professionalism, loyalty, candor, and definitely takes the initiative on getting ahead of things when it comes to working on your case. On our first meeting, we sat down and he worked up every number almost to the dollar on various scenarios and what I could expect to come out of the divorce with. I also worked with Hannah Apicelli, who is an attorney there as well. Hannah is a very kind person and just like Steve, makes you feel like a priority. I never had a problem with not receiving any requested information or a callback from them. Someone who cares

Steve really went above and beyond for me. Not only did he exert masterful diplomacy with the Plaintif, but he was in contact with me every step of the way. He truly cares about his clients. Even after the case, Steve made sure that I have his cell phone number and offered up his friendship in case I... ever need to just talk to someone. His rates are very reasonable and truth be told, I would have paid more after seeing him work and show his true character throughout it all.
