Exceptional Representation, Compassion, and Results When I Needed It Most

Steve Shewmaker was beyond amazing in representing me at my emergency contempt hearing before Judge Robert Walker. I first met Steve the Wednesday before my hearing, which was scheduled for the following Monday afternoon. Despite having only a matter of days to prepare, Steve immediately made time... for me to come into his office so I could walk him through the history of the case and provide the relevant documents. What impressed me most was how quickly he understood the issues. He created a clear comparison of what should have happened versus what actually happened, which helped organize a complicated situation and identify the key facts. He quickly developed a strategy focused on demonstrating that my actions were not willful contempt. Steve was focused, strategic, extremely knowledgeable, and remarkably prepared given the short amount of time he had. He knew exactly which facts mattered and how to present them effectively to the Court. The outcome spoke for itself. I was not found in willful contempt. The judge did not award any additional funds to my former husband, and I was not ordered to pay his attorney fees. What also meant a great deal to me was Steve’s compassion and concern for my safety. I currently have a Temporary Protective Order in place involving my former husband, and being around him is frightening for me. Steve understood that this was not just a legal matter, but also an emotionally difficult and intimidating situation. After the hearing, he personally walked me to my car to make sure I was safe. That level of care went far beyond what I expected from an attorney. Steve’s compassion, professionalism, preparation, courtroom presence, and genuine concern for my well-being were exceptional. I am extremely grateful that I found Steve when I did and would highly recommend him to anyone facing a difficult family-law or contempt matter.

Hire Steve Shewmaker Now!!!

I normally don’t write reviews, but my experience with Steve was so impactful that I felt it was necessary to share. For almost two years I tried to handle my divorce on my own because after 20 years of marriage I simply wanted it to be over. That decision caused me a tremendous amount of stress a...nd anxiety. I was constantly going back and forth to court and dealing with my ex-husband’s attorney, and nothing was getting resolved. When I finally contacted Steve, I was at my breaking point. At that time the judge had even ordered me to pay over $10,000 in attorney’s fees to my ex-husband based on claims that I had not provided documents, which was not true. I truly did not know how I was going to handle that financially. What stood out to me immediately was that Steve stepped in without hesitation. Before even asking me for a retainer, he told me to give him a moment and said he was going to call my ex-husband’s attorney. I don’t know what was said during that conversation, but everything changed after that. Not only was I no longer responsible for the $10,000 in attorney’s fees, but Steve was also able to secure 50% of my ex-husband’s retirement along with survivor benefits for me. I contacted Steve in November, and after nearly two years of stressful litigation, he and his team were able to finalize my divorce in about 30 days. When he called me with the outcome, I was literally in tears. Steve was honest, direct, and extremely professional throughout the entire process. He didn’t sugarcoat anything, but he fought to get this resolved quickly and fairly. His team worked hard and stayed on top of everything. If you are considering hiring Steve Shewmaker, I highly recommend him. I only wish I had hired him much earlier because it would have saved me a lot of stress and heartache.
