Lack of communication between Mr. Curtis V Cheney Jr, potential client and his legal assistant. My case concerned Elderly Law and possible wrongful death action against a Assisted Living Facility. The will has been questionable also. His legal assistant informed me he would probably take both cases. She asked me to pick up a certified letter I has received from the Post Office and then scan, email to her. I was given her email address and then signed for letter/document which was from the probate court in another county. I emailed these documents along with many others and she emailed back and said that the one that was certified letter she hadn't received even though my ISP said it was delivered and opened. I resent it 2 x more. The next week I was notified by cell phone voice mail to bring document to the office which I did. I did not see Mr. Cheney at that time but talked to his assistant. I left the office and was returning to my home and college to go to next class and was called back by his legal assistant to return to office. When I did so I was escorted to his private office where I wasn't even asked to sit down but Mr. Cheney started yelling, screaming, at me and asked me if I was stupid or something that the document I had brought in it was too late in the day to make an answer as this was the last day and how did I believe he was going to take care of this at the last minute. I tried to explain to him I had done everything his legal assistant had asked. I had asked her the previous week isn't there a time limit on this and if I needed to do anything else and was informed, No, if it didn't arrive by email soon Mr. Cheney would take care of this and called the court and get an extension and for me not to worry that Mr. Cheney would make a courtesy call. He exploded on me at his office and I was upset, bewildered and didn't understand why he was screaming at me for something I did not do. His legal assistant did nothing and just stood there letting me take the blame for something I had no clue about. I was emotionally distraught. I am 67 and suffer from high blood pressure. I started crying as I left his office and physically afraid of him. As I went down the hallway with his assistant she apologized and told me he was just in a bad mood that day and having a bad day, Everyone has bad days but that doesn't mean as a professional that bad days should be taken out on clients or potential clients in their professional offices....His lack of professional ethics is very confusing to me. I did not disrespect him in any way or raise my voice. His verbal violence scared me and I didn't understand or comprehend why this was happening. He is supposed to be a professional attorney and I would think there is a professionalism and code of ethics that he should uphold as an attorney. Yesterday I received a certified letter that he will not take my cases under any circumstances. That wasn't necessary for I had decided that he would definitely not represent me under any circumstances if his temper was so violent and he was taking my case and later down the road did this again. I was afraid of this man. I definitely wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. And what is so conflicting about this situation is I went to him because my mother was deceased and neglected in an Alzheimer's Unit as an elderly person and the very same attorney who I sought to represent me on this case is himself being abusive to me as an elderly person. AMAZING
