Bill and his team handled a traffic citation without delay and with an excellent result. They are professional, pleasant to work with, and they know what they're doing. A great lawyer and legal team. I recommend them highly.

Bill and his staff told me exactly how the process would work and made me feel comfortable the whole way through. I would strongly recommend him for anyone needing assistance.

Mr. Powers and his associates took my case on very short notice and got the results I needed! They have treated me with the greatest of respect and welcomed me as a valued client; making calls in person and giving extra effort to help me understand the processes of my case. This is the place to go to genuinely get things taken care of. Thank you Mr. Powers, and your staff and associates!

I am new to Charlotte and was somehow quickly wrangled into a ridiculous legal mess.
I hired Mr. Powers at 4pm on a Friday afternoon. He learned my entire case over the weekend, defended me in court first thing Monday morning, and we won.
It is such a rare combination to find a lawyer with incredible talent who still thinks/works from the heart. Bill Powers is that man. He's definitely *earned* every award he has posted in his office!
If you have an important or complicated case within his specialty, with the utmost confidence he's your man.

I cannot say enough good things about Bill Powers. I know him as a friend, a neighbor and an attorney. We first used Bill’s legal services when our daughter as a new driver had several “moments of misunderstanding of the law” which resulted in speeding tickets. (For example, it’s OK to speed if you need to pass a big truck or if your team has just won its first conference championship and you are headed to celebrate with teammates etc.) Bill was wonderful! He did not so much as help her get out of the tickets, but more provided a chance for her to understand the laws and to learn from her mistakes without affecting our (her parents) good standing or pocketbook. The consequences proved very effective. It took a lot of lifeguarding hours (this provided some time to contemplate on what she might have done differently) to pay the fines but the fines were for violations that would not doom her driving record.
We thought that her experiences had perhaps helped our son, who now at 18 still had a squeaky clean record. Though it probably helped out some, we realized that he was not without error when we received a very surprising notice recently in the mail that “his court date had been set”. After speaking with him, he informed us that as an 18 year old legal adult he had retained his own lawyer (several months before this) and they had worked everything out and he was to be taking his classes that weekend to help erase the incident from his record. I will have to admit that I was very impressed, enough so that I didn’t even question his not telling us. Of course, he had called our friend Bill Powers who had been an amazing mentor to him during this time. We are extremely grateful to Bill for providing this confidential outlet for our son to obtain ethical and responsible legal advice.
There are lawyers that will help you get around the long arm of the law or will even help you benefit from an unfortunate situation. I can say that Bill Powers is NOT one of these guys. He is a man full of integrity and compassion and a thorough understanding of and respect for the law. He has helped our young adults understand the law and its implications and has provided honest and straight forward answers and helped to turn the mistakes that they have made into learning experiences with consequences that will not hinder their chances for success in the future.
Let’s face it, the laws today are very strict and the consequences of breaking them can be overwhelming. And sometimes, our many (many!) words of warning as parents just fall on deaf ears. If you have a son or daughter who has recently turned 18 and/or is headed off to college WRITE THIS MAN’S NAME AND PHONE NUMBER DOWN AND GIVE IT TO THEM! Better yet, call Bill yourself and schedule an appointment for your new drivers and new adults to sit down with him and have a nice chat about your state’s laws, their new responsibilities and the impact that bad decisions could possibly have on their future and yours.

I highly recommend you use Bill Powers! He is the BEST! I was unfortunately faced with a DWI and a speeding ticket a few months ago. I was a mess and did not know who to turn to for help. I met with one lawyer who I was told to go to by family members. I did not have a good feeling when I left his office. To make a long story short I ended up talking with Bill Powers and John Landreth. I knew right away I wanted to use Powers McCartan Law Firm. There are no words to describe how happy and grateful I am that I used them. I feel they truly went above and beyond throughout my case right up to the end. My DWI got dismissed and my speeding ticket got lowered. I am truly thankful for all they did throughout my case. If you ever get yourself in a horrible situation I promise Powers McCartan Law Firm will do all they can do to get your life back to normal! Thank you SO much!!

I was charged with possession of pyrotechnics (apparently even possession of bottle rockets is a crime in North Carolina) but I was going to be out of the country on my court date. I took my case to Mr. Powers and he had apparently talked to the DA the next day. He got me permission to sign up for a Cognitive Behavioral Intervention course within days; I signed up for the earliest class and I had my case dismissed in under a month. I never did receive replies to some of my questions, but he did everything I needed him to, so it wasn't a problem.

Much like you are doing now, I did my due diligence on researching to figure out who the best DWI attorney is in Mecklenburg county. You see, my son was arrested at a check point in Charlotte and charged with DWI. Our bigger problem, he was only 20 years old at the time of the arrest and NC has "0" tolerance for underage DWI's. To say the least, we all know the ramifications that can result from this arrest. So, I researched and came across the reviews regarding Bill Powers. Looking back now, I couldn't agree more with all the positive comments regarding Bill Powers' professionalism, character, and dedication to his clients. More importantly, his desire to WIN! This was absolutely one of the worst times in my life as a parent and I know it was for my son too. Each time we went to court, Bill would sit down and we would discuss different issues concerning our case. Just talking to Bill, I knew he was going to be my best option at winning. Bill's credentials are more than just about being an attorney, and if you see his profile, you can read about his publishing's and work with different law enforcement counsels. Anyway, Bill won our case. So, as I sit here writing this review, I hope I have helped you in your tough decision. If you would like to be at a point where you are also writing a positive review regarding you legal matters, hire Bill Powers!

I recently had occasion to contact Bill Powers about an ongoing legal battle that seemed to never-end. I got an IMMEDIATE response, and to this day, even though I'm sure his caseload is tremendous, I'm made to feel as if I'm his ONLY client. He answers my communications quickly, he wastes no time handling things, and when he's working with someone else his staff is working with me! I will never consider another Council, unless he refers me!

Couldn't be more pleased with the representation on a criminal matter I recently received. Bill got the case dismissed on our first court appearance and did so proficiently and professionally. I highly recommend his services as I think you would be well served.
