Gerry did an outstanding job not only representing me in my case, but was able to execute all my needs and wants successfully. He put in long hours and always took time to answer any questions I had. His personal goal was to represent me the best possible way and took all my requests into account. He gave me the strong representation I desired all the while being sympathetic to my personal situation. I highy recommend his services without hesitation and will continue to use him when necessary.

When I met with Gerry I wasn't sure if I even had a case yet but he spent plenty of timing listening to my situation, talking to me about the options as well as the potential direction things could go. He was very thorough, never watched the clock nor rushed me through our consultation. He is a confident man and I believe he knows the law well and also the other lawyers and firms in Charlotte. I will definitely hire him if and when I need him.

I was new to the world of needing a family law attorney and had a bit of trepidation. Within 10 minutes of my initial consultation I knew I had to retain Gerry as he alleviated my concerns, and it was clear he would take the burden of fighting for my child and protecting my financial ability to do so off my shoulders.
The attention from Coggin Law to my situation and needs were remarkable. I was not their biggest client nor was my case their most profitable. Regardless, I was treated consistently with respect and priority. During off hours the staff and Gerry himself would check in on me to make sure things were moving as I had hoped.
Should I ever be in the place of needing family law assistance again my phone only has one number. I recommend Coggin Law without reservation.

Gerry Coggin has been my lawyer for almost three years now. I only discovered him after my divorce was settled, and sadly, after the arrogance and incompetence of my previous lawyer had caused irreparable damage. I initially hired Gerry to tie up the loose ends after I parted ways with my first lawyer. I engaged Gerry to assist in the preparation/filing of several QDROs and to help with any other matters that would arise post settlement. As with any divorce, especially those where children are involved, that was just the beginning of what has become a long-standing association. Of course, Gerry and his team handled the QDROs beautifully, but he has also helped me navigate through additional alimony, custody and child support issues. He is truly my advocate, and I wouldn't trade him for anything. He is honest to his core, thoughtful, meticulous and thorough.
His fees are both fair and well earned. Cases of this nature are never cheap, but I've found Gerry to be both reasonable and forthright in this regard. If expenses (i.e., his fees) would potentially outweigh an outcome, he would tell me right off the bat, and allow me to make an informed decision on how (or even whether) to proceed. It is not at all unusual for lawyers to require funds to be placed in trust. The difference is in how they spend it, and Gerry does so honestly and responsibly. This is not a lawyer consumed with making a buck.
Gerry is a breath of fresh air in a system that is very difficult to navigate without the right person there to guide you. He is fully accessible, always returning calls and emails promptly. He has called me to discuss my case on weekends, while driving in his car and even while grabbing pizza for dinner.
Gerry is one of the finest lawyers I have encountered in a very long time. For me, he restored professionalism and humanity to a process that is truly flawed, and by it's very nature, disheartening. Courtney Carter and Gail Oliver are also reflections of the stellar work ethic, professionalism and advocacy that I have experienced in my years with this firm. This firm is the real deal - the entire package. Do not ever be fooled by the allure of a big firm. I was, and it cost me dearly. I am so thankful every day that, through a friend's recommendation, I finally found Gerry!
Without hesitation, I have and will continue to refer everyone I know to Coggin Law.

After 14 months of being with an attorney and getting no where, a friend of mine suggested I speak with Gerry Coggin to see if he could get something done with my custody-support case. I met with him on his birthday. He stayed late just to meet with me as he felt my case was time sensitive. He was very honest with me. He didn't tell me what I WANTED to hear, he told me the truth. I retained him that day in late November 2015. Within 4 months I saw my case moving forward and he got me some financial relief. By August, he was able to get custody-support settled as well as some of the assets. We are in the final stages now and it has been such a relief to feel that I had someone on my side fighting for me these last 11 months.
I would also like to add that Courtney Carter has been a fantastic attorney for me as well. Between Gerry and Courtney they divided my case into different areas of focus for each of them. Once they felt they had come to the best solution they would then get together and discuss. It's wonderful to be able to see different views on the same issue and for them to decide what is the best way to approach the situation. I could not be more happy with my decision to hire Gerry Coggin Law to help me in the most difficult situation.
Gail Oliver is also an amazing asset to the firm. She is a wonderful communicator. I felt between the 3 of them that my case was important and there was nothing left falling through the cracks. They are very efficient and professional.
My only regret is that I didn't know about them to have hired them from the start.

Mr Coggin was very concerned and highly trained and knowledgeable regarding my divorce issues. I greatly appreciated his presence and his demeanor in my case. I feel he was conscientious about the money being spent in my case and handled things as I requested and in a very timely manner. His staff is kind, efficient and helpful. I have and will continue to recommend him as a divorce lawyer.

I hired Coggin Law for a complex and sometime challenging divorce and custody case. He and his staff were outstanding for many reasons. They were informed and experienced. They had a genuine understanding of the complexities and specifics of my case. They always attempted to completely represent my interests. Their communication was excellent. Its never an enjoyable process but I could not imagine going through it with less qualified, professional, and understanding representation. Worth every penny.

I was referred to Gerry by a close friend. From day one, he scrupulously handled the intricacies of my case with professionalism and meticulous detail. He consistently brought my emotions back down to concentrate only on the legal issues while always staying one step ahead of the opposing counsel.
Throughout my two years of his representation, he led me down a path that unfortunately was necessary, and his cognizance of the system and the process were valued during this tumultuous emotional time.
His untiring work ethic was more than appreciated, as it allowed me to trust his guidance and representation without hesitation.
He had my monetary, emotional, and timing interests in mind as he ultimately settled my case before going to court.
Divorce is hard and painful and expensive, and it's imperative that you can trust your attorney is looking out for you and your children's best interests. With certitude, I can say that Gerry will do that for you in handling your legal battle.

Mr Coggins represented me for years and $10's of thousands of dollars later still have nothing to show for it. No custody issue settled nor final divorce. He is extremely costly and requires a substantial trust fund settle up before he will even begin to represent you and he will make sure it all gets used before requiring to pay more while dragging every little thing out he can. He would call or would text ALL times of the night making very inappropriate comments.

Gerry Coggin spent about a year and a half bungling my custody and divorce case before I had to replace him. He is not well liked amongst other divorce attorneys or Judges, and he is really only concerned about making money from your case. He is knowledgeable about the law, but he would probably be a more skilled attorney and counselor at law if he actually cared about outcomes and results for his clients.
