I am a practicing attorney in Charlotte, North Carolina and surrounding areas. My earlier legal scholarship and view of the law was aligned with its spirit, as opposed to its letter. But my view has since changed. I consider myself an adherent of textualism. Close attention to detail and letter of the law allows me to provide my clients with targeted legal solutions, rooted firmly in the language of statutes, regulations, and court opinions. This strict constructionist approach leads to transparency between myself and my client as well as my colleagues and opposing counsel. In my experience, it is more beneficial to all parties, and our legal system on whole, that continued reflection of how the law actually reads be practiced. Bearing this in mind, I seek to serve the needs of my clients candidly and with ingenuity; to treat my colleagues with respect for the their opinions, and to work in harmony to reach solutions; and to embrace the opposition with an imploring but stern eye.
My direct experience with state government involved Secretary of State compliance, review and approval of administrative and regulatory guidelines across multiple state agencies, procedural due process review and discipline of government employees, and a broad swath of matters covering government-creditor bankruptcy cases to meeting with private companies and discussing the terms of and then drafting contracts for state-owned property. Criminal and civil litigation experience has familiarized me with court room practice and procedure. Motions for summary judgment and directed verdict are sometimes necessary, but I also understand the need for coming to an agreement before trial costs diminish my client's overall return.
I am a devoted and enthusiastic attorney. My will power and predisposition to work and develop my career as a legal advisor to individuals, businesses, and government further equip me with the tools needed to perform competently and in an efficient manner.
