About me

I'm an attorney licensed in North Carolina and Florida practicing estate planning, estate administration, tax, and small business law. Being openly gay, I have a particular affinity for serving same-gender/same-sex couples, alternative families, and LGBTQ individuals. Regardless of your situation, I look forward to helping you develop an estate plan to protect yourself and your loved ones. In addition to my law practice, I serve on the Board of Directors of the Guilford Green Foundation (, as well as the Greensboro chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Though born in Japan, I am a native North Carolinian, having grown up in Rockingham. I completed a double-major in Business and French at UNC Greensboro. I graduated cum laude from Elon University School of Law and went on to earn an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Taxation from the University of Florida.

While at Elon Law, I practiced estate planning in the Wills Clinic, was an admissions ambassador, and externed for District Court Judge Sue Burch. I founded and served as President and Treasurer of OutLaw, a social and educational organization for LGBTQ law students at Elon. I served as treasurer of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity and the Elon Law Democrats, was solicitor (investigator and prosecutor) for the Honor Council, and was a member of the Jewish Law Students Association. During my summers away from Elon Law, I interned for the District Attorney in Rockingham and for the Public Defender in Charlotte, as well as studied Chinese business law in Beijing and Spanish language and culture in Madrid. I was also an active member of OutLaw at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

  • Justin Parnell Enecks

I met Mr. Ervin on the very first day of law school long ago, and he immediately made a very favorable and lasting impression. He has always been very enthusiastic and willing to help however he can. In fact, when I failed to find the answer I needed regarding an estate planning matter, I sought Mr. Ervin's guidance first. He was extremely helpful and got me pointed in the right direction. I therefore wholeheartedly endorse him.
