In August 2015, my daughter was a victim of assault and pressed charges against her aggressor. The aggressor counter-charged my daughter. Mr. Mayoras was selected as her public defender. Prior to the hearing, Mr. Mayoras engaged with the prosecutor and maintained contact with us. On the day of the trial I observed other cases prior to ours being heard, I saw weak defense attorneys lose repeatedly to the tough prosecutor. As my daughter was called forward I started to worry. The judge dismissed both charges and my son was a free man with a life ahead of him. Think about it, Mr. Mayoras won this case despite having never entered the Norfolk courthouse previous to this.
