About me

I'm the managing partner and senior immigration attorney at Szabo, Zelnick & Erickson (“SZE”). I attended George Mason University and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1981. I then obtained my J.D. in 1984 from George Mason University School of Law. After graduating from law school, I was selected for a Judicial Clerkship for the Judges of the Circuit Court of Prince William County. I joined SZE in 1987, and have been a partner since 1989.

The Prince William County Bar Association previously elected me to serve as one of its members on the Judicial Selection Committee. This committee is responsible for interviewing perspective judicial candidates for appointment to the bench. I've spoken to various legal groups in Virginia to address issues related to ethics, professionalism, and immigration. I've also had the opportunity to speak to the Western Immigration Networking Group (WINGS), and various groups at GMUSL. I write a monthly column for the News & Messenger Newspaper focusing on immigration related topics.

I'm currently a member of several associations and groups, including the Virginia State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the International Business Committee the Virginia State Bar International Practice Section, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

At SZE, the immigration practice focuses primarily on corporate immigration, for both large and small organizations. In particular, my team assists employers and individual clients in obtaining temporary working visas, permanent resident status, and U.S. citizenship. Our immigration team provides counsel and guidance on a broad range of US/global immigration issues, including both inbound/outbound corporate immigration issues. SZE also provides guidance on I-9 compliance issues/processes.

Immigration law is complex and it’s critical that the proper strategy be used for each case…as the impact can be serious for all concerned. The goal at SZE is to provide a perfect immigration process, without surprises, for each case.
