So Ms. Karin Porter’s reputation precedes her. It is my complete pleasure to write this review. Ms. Karin Porter is a magnificent defense attorney. I have dealt with A LOT of lawyers, and I can honestly say I’ve never seen an attorney so strong, professional, informative, and caring of her clients. I... have met with many lawyers so I know how confusing, short, and impersonal they can be. Ms. Porter was nothing but informative, honest, fair in pricing, and most importantly caring. I felt confident that she would give me the best possible outcome and she did. If you are to choose any attorney to represent you in Fairfax County, I strongly recommend you retain Ms. Porter.

Karin provided excellent representation for my case (alleged reckless driving in Virginia, i.e carefully placed speed trap in a federal jurisdiction). She was extremely knowledgeable about the process and provided clear direction on activities I could pursue in advance to present the best case to th...e court (even before I had hired her). Before and during the court session she was persistent and assertive in attempts to negotiate the best possible outcome. I thought she struck the right balance between being creative and being realistic, and in the end achieved the best possible outcome given the particular court and prosecutor.

Ms. Porter represented me when I was charged with public intoxication in Arlington. The charge was dismissed at my initial hearing, which was the outcome I sought. I’ve dealt with many lawyers in my professional endeavors, and my experience with Ms. Porter is the single-best I have had. She is smart,... capable, compassionate, confident and a true credit to the profession. I could not have been happier with her services, for several reasons. First, she was responsive. Even though she was out of the office on the day I called to inquire about her services, I received a return phone call to discuss my case about two hours after my initial message. Second, she had a plan to address the charge and obtain the outcome I desired. She had me begin work on the deliverables she requested right away. This made me feel as though I had some control over the process, which made me feel better. She provided feedback quickly when needed. Third, she frequently updated me on her progress and told me what to expect at key milestones. I did not have to reach out to her to learn what was happening. She projected calm and competence throughout. She answered questions when I had them. At no point did she ever make me feel as though as I was “on the clock” or that she was too busy to speak with me. That is a rare feeling when dealing with a lawyer. After researching attorney's online, I came across Ms. Karin Riley Porter's profile. After reading her reviews, I scheduled an initial consultation with her to discuss my alleged aggressive driving / DUI. The initial consult was not rushed and Ms. Karin listened attentively while taking copious not...es. Once I decided to move forward and have Ms. Karin represent me, we maintained an open channel of communication and she was very responsive to my calls and emails leading up to trial. More impressively, my trial was moved twice due to personal reasons, yet Ms. Karin made me feel as if I was her only client. What I liked most about Ms. Karin was that she never sugar-coated anything. Although I had a strong case and video evidence, Ms. Karin presented worse-case scenarios so that I was aware of and prepared for all possible outcomes. Prior to our court hearing, Ms. Karin developed a detailed outline of our approach and defense to specific allegations. Instead of preparing to present my case holistically, she was able to challenge my case in three phases (1) reason for the stop (2) the arrest (3) booking / detainment. Although the judge, in my opinion, was hard on her at times, Ms. Karin kept her poise and would respectfully push back when she felt it was professionally appropriate. Her preparation allowed her cross examination to be direct which ultimately "poked holes" in the respective officer's testimony. Although we lost our "motion to suppress" the reason for the traffic stop (first phase mentioned above), Ms. Karin's cross examination and the video evidence of the arrest (phase 2 mentioned above) provided the judge with enough information to drop all my charges, without requiring us to defend the testimony of the third phase above. Case dismissed!!
