James did a fantastic job in representing me for a Reskless driving charge (Reckless by speed 92 in a 55). He helped me prepare all the documentation, explained how it would go down, and even reviewed my dash cam video of the incident. My case was not straightforward as I'm a non citizen on a work visa and a reckless driving conviction would have severe impact for my stay in the US. James did all the groundwork in understanding my situation, advising me along the way with all possible consequences. He managed to bring it down to a regular speeding ticket (85 mph with $250 fine) and avoided any complications on my immigration record! Thank you James! I highly recommend him.

James and Ben Glass Law really helped me out in a serious bind. He explained the process until I was able to understand it clearly. James did not lead me to believe that he could wave a wand and win my case. He worked hard and prepared for the opportunity to arise and was able to win the case. I am able to recommend him without reservation.

After getting into a heated argument with my live-in girlfriend, I was arrested and charged with domestic assault. I did some internet research soon after being charged and learned that the bar for domestic abuse in Virginia is incredibly low.
I did two things correctly at the onset--I didn't make a statement to the responding police officers (I later learned the Commonwealth Attorney uses your statements in court against you) and I hired James Abrenio to represent me.
James worked diligently and patiently with me prior to the trial date to craft my testimony. He didn't tell me what to say, but how best to say it. For me, it was all about presenting the details in a coherent, easy to follow reconstruction of the evening of the alleged offense. I am not a natural storyteller, I am monotone and I am not overly emotional and thus not necessarily very convincing. After a second meeting with James, he told me, upon questioning, that I wasn't the worst or best client he's had at testifying. I knew this wasn't my strong suit, and his honesty created trust. Therefore, he took the time to schedule a third mock trial for me to hone my testimony.
Upon arriving at the court for my scheduled hearing, the Commonwealth Attorney (District Attorney) offered me a plea deal, which consisted of a deferred finding. Essentially I would have to state in court that there was enough evidence of my guilt to convict. Due to James' prior advisement, I knew exactly what this meant: For two years, the court would withhold finding me guilty and I would be placed on probation, be required to attend domestic violence classes, and be prohibited from committing additional violations of law. I knew once all of these conditions were met, I would not have a conviction on my record. However, I also knew that I would be prohibited from possessing or owning firearms for two years but I would receive my 2nd Amendment rights back at the conclusion of the two years. I also knew that if I went to trial and I was found guilty, I would lose my 2nd Amendment rights forever and have a criminal charge on my record, which would affect my life in a number of ways, to include future employment opportunities. The laws are written, obviously, to discourage defending yourself in court. As a result, I was facing a major dilemma-accept the plea even though I wasn't guilty because it posed less risk or push all of my chips into the middle of the table and risk everything in order to defend myself. This was a major dilemma for me, especially since I didn't have much faith in the American judicial system. I weighed my options carefully due to the risks. Here are the real and perceived facts as I saw them when I did the cost-benefit analysis of my situation:
1. I was innocent
2. If I lost in court, the impact would far outweigh the consequences of accepting the deferred judgement
3. My nature doesn't make me the most compelling witness
4. The Commonwealth's witness was a natural storyteller and would likely be convincing
5. The judge was a woman and I viewed this as potentially being disadvantageous in this type of case
6. James would be more prepared than the Commonwealth Attorney
7. Because of James' dedication, I would be more prepared than the Commonwealth's witness.
Naturally, I was distraught. The balance of my life hinged on the decision I had to make and I bounced back and forth between my two options-even being very abrupt with James, telling him loudly that I might as well take the deferred judgement even though I was innocent. Despite being at least a decade my junior, James sternly told me that he could win this. The trust he created by being honest with me during our second meeting gave me the confidence to roll the dice. Don't get me wrong, I still knew an acquittal wasn't guaranteed. His exuberating confidence was enough.
Long story short: James' ability resulted in an acquittal. I highly recommend him.

I was involved in being injured while riding my motorcycle in heavy traffic. James Abrenio gave me excellent advice and accumulated thorough documentation of the incident. We did not have to go to court to resolve the matter and his counsel was accurate and his consultation invaluable.

He treated me with respect the whole time. My case was a unique one for him but none the less he found a way to get a great outcome that would keep my family and I safe from legal consequences in the future.

HONEST and TRUST is his second name
My case is unique. September 2015 with 33 people all from Arizona were on a tour for 5 days to visit Washington DC. and the surrounding areas. We were all staying in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia in a very well known hotel. The second day after the tour for that day, I had the misfortune of falling from one step in their lobby. Had dislocated my ankle with three broken bones. Surgery with possibility of even loosing my left foot. I was now facing lots of physical and mentally problems.
The very next day, same place, same step, about same time another person in our group had the same accident. She too broke her foot, but it was a clean fracture, no surgery necessary. She waited to see an orthopedic doctor only once back in Arizona. At first she thought it was just a strain. The word got around that two guys also in our group almost lost their balance.
I am a widow, retired and was in good health, but have been under doctors care ever since. I needed advice, help, but would an attorney from Virginia agree to take my case. Only resource I had was to go on the Internet and find someone willing to help. This is when James Abrenio agreed to talk to me.
From that very moment I found out that James is very compassionate, and a very caring person. He knew that this would be a very different and hard case especially that a negligence on the hotel part has to be proven in Virginia State. Was very impress to find someone so dedicated....not so much to win but help you.
Finding out all the work that this would require I realized that this would be a lost case. I didn't want James to put more efforts, energy and time. I had already been thru so much pain, expenses, heart aches...wheel chair, reap for 22 days, physical therapy, and I live by myself.
With determination and integrity James wants to continue the investigation and hope that this will maybe just end up in a settlement. No result yet...still open.
I trust and know that whatever happens, James did everything in his power to help. I am so grateful to say that some attorneys do care....and it's not only for money.
There are no words to describe this attorney... JAMES ABRINIO HONEST, TRUSTWORTHY, COMPASSIONATE, DEDICATED, and very PROFESSIONAL. Thank you James for the person you are. Therese, AZ

I recently met with James to discuss a very serious harassment issue. James provided outstanding legal advice and took the time to thoroughly explain the legal implications of the situation. We will not hesitate to contact James if we have to take legal action and we want him by our side. I found him to have the utmost integrity and really care about the impact to us as clients. I was extremely impressed by his candid and forthright approach. He really understands the court system. Excellent attorney.

After an undesirable result in District Court, I appealed. I also decided to hire James. He worked on my case tirelessly and kept me involved. He is smart and WILL fight for you! I only wish I hired him sooner!

Hired James Abrenio to help defend our son in a serious school discipline case. First he patiently developed an understanding of the facts. He sought insights from his colleagues to understand their experience with the “unique” procedures used in the FCPS process and what to expect. Then he helped our son prepare his testimony so that he could effectively communicate the facts. As he came to understand our family situation he helped us gather the materials that needed to be developed and presented to support our son's testimony. His dedication through the entire trying period made it clear that he cared about our son and family. Most highly recommended.
