My first time getting into trouble with the law was the early morning of my 21st birthday. I caught an assault charge while defending myself and was taken to the CPU and held without bond facing 25 years and a felony charge. I had no idea what to do or what the future held for me by that point let al...one any idea of how to live in jail. I'm not sure how my father found out about Mr. Rothman but I don't think I'd be out of jail right now if it wasn't for Mr. Rothman. Our first meeting was at the CPU and he asked me straightforward questions and gave me honest feedback about the facts of the case based off of what I was telling him. He did not fill my head with false hope nor did he sugarcoat things. I had already spoken with another lawyer by the time I met Mike but I chose to go with Mike because I felt like I could trust him and that he'd do his best to defend me to the best of his ability. After I was transferred to MCCF me and Mike were only able to see each other in person a handful of times which was fine because Mike was always available through the phone and was very proactive when it came to letting a family member know that I needed to call him when I had the chance. Mike did numbers for my mental health while I was in jail and was always there to reassure me and answer any questions I had during my time there even though he was going through some things in his personal life. His legal counsel led to me being able to be there for the birth of my daughter and officially be home a month later. Where to begin!?!? The two people that deserve my thanks, appreciation and gratitude are God and Mike Rothman. I found myself in quite a mess, as this was my first ever offense, gun-related felony charge in DC. Mike Rothman is an excellent attorney. He really listened and discussed my case in great detail even before I had agreed to use him.
