My son had just started his senior year in high school, when he was charged with a very serious felony of First Degree Burglary. My son had no previous record. He had just gotten involved with the wrong group of kids. He was facing a possible maximum prison sentence of up to twenty years! Needless to say, I was a wreck!
I did an Internet search for the top defensive attorney’s in the state! Gary Gerstenfield’s name was on that list. We talk with a few other attorneys’, but Mr. Gerstenfield was the only one that spoke with confidence of handling my son’s case. He was always available by telephone and even called us at home at night if he had been in court during the day.
Mr. Gerstenfield was professional, ethical, and hard working. He was proactive on the case, and when we had our court date, my son had already completed all of the things that the judge requested, thanks to our attorney being very knowledgeable.
He provided peace of mind and support with every step of the case. We were well informed of what to expect. My son avoided jail time and received three years probation before judgment, and after serving one year of the PBJ, he had everything lifted for good behavior!
My son was able to graduate, and now he will be able to get a job, join the military, and most importantly he has his life back and can move forward and put this behind him! (Just a note, the other young adult involved got a cheap attorney, and he is serving 18 months).
We would strongly recommend Gary Gerstenfield and will be eternally grateful for his service!

When i say this guy saved my life i really mean it.My situation was so dyer that i really thought i was not going to see the light of day again.
I was put in a situation that i was forced to bring something illegal into the country. In the process i ended up in the hospital with the montgomery police and I.C.E at my side asking about suspicious packets that was taken out of me.Luckily my family contacted Mr Gary as i call him and he wrote a letter an posted it on my bed , when i got home the first day still sick and barely able to walk the police and i.c.e came at my house and in my room asking questions which upon being advised by Mr Gary not to answer with out his presence . I told them nothing an gave them the letter that Mr Gary gave me , the i.c.e officer started cursing and telling me that the letter does not mean a thing but when the Montgomery officer saw the letter he pulled the i.c.e officer aside an the they said they will be back. I have never been so afraid in my life.
I called Mr Gary an set up an appointment , he was so concerned for my health an making sure i was ok physically and mentally. He guided me through the process and assured me he will make lemonade out of a lemon. When i got the warrant i was facing 25 yrs in federal prison, i had alot of sleepless night and was confused how Mr Gary was so collective an calm about my situation.
The first thing that Mr Gary did that got my confidence was to drop the case from a federal to a county case, So i was looking at 5 yrs of incarceration. We had weekly meetings to discuss the case at length because my freedom was on the line,Mr Gary assured me he was going to work every angle but i really thought that i was done for. Mr Gary successfully communicated with the D.E.A , local police and the prosecutor to have a sit down with me and allowed me to tell my side of the story. We went to court an i plead guilty to bringing illegal substances into the state, which is punishable by 5 yrs but Mr Gary told me he is pushing for five mnths.
One of my biggest concerns was not being able to leave the country an not being able to vote and i brought these concerns to him too an he kept assuring me he is gonna do his best, i called him atleast 3 times a week with my worries and concerns an he told me that he has the situation under control, but i didnt believe him because my situation was really bad.
He assured me that i will not spend my time in a cell but in a center with out prison uniforms or handcuffs, which i was grateful for. I really didnt think he could of pull it off.
On the day of sentencing Mr Gary ask me if i wanted to be able to go back to my country after the ordeal and i said yes , we faced the judge an Mr Gary plead my case to the judge and to my surprise the judge gave me 5 days in jail and allowed me to leave the country and i still have the right to vote. WOW i was speechless and Mr Gary was C.C.C calm ,cool, and collective he simply said you dont have to worry and call crying every week again, just call to check up on me. I was in shock. This guy not only got 25 yrs off of my original charge , but he got me to leave the country plus maintain my pride as an American citizen to vote.
Mr Gary knew exactly what he was doing, he was caring and if it was not for his advice he gave me not to talk to anybody with out his presences i would of been incarcerated for atleast 15 yrs WOW god sent, words are not enough to explain my gratitude towards him.

I highly recommend Mr. Gerstenfield and his legal team. The case against me was dropped because of their great work. I knew I had a great lawyer because my brother in law had a problem 3 years ago and Mr. Gerstenfield did a great job with his case. In my situation I was facing the possibility of having to register. Mr. gerstenfield always believed in me and fought for my innocence. Mr. Gerstenfield fights for his clients!

I had dinner and a few drinks in Bethesda with my girlfriend and we left the restaurant about 11 o’clock on a Friday night. I decided to drive thinking I was okay. I drove up Wisconsin Avenue and noticed a drunk-driving check point. Before I could find a place to turn off, I was already driving through the check point with cops lined up waiting to ask us if we were drinking. I had to stand on one foot and recite the alphabet. Things I would have a hard time doing anyway, but especially when you are nervous.
I failed the stand on one foot for 20 seconds test. I went to the station and blew a .09. A few years ago that would have been a little under the limit. However, I was over the limit and I was freaking out because I had two DUI’s from over 20 years earlier. I knew that these things never left your record and that I would count as a repeat offender. That night, after I was released on my own recognizance, I was so wired and nervous I decided I needed to get an attorney as soon as possible. I searched under DWI attorney in Silver Spring and Gary’s name appeared. The testimonials I read were like the one I am writing now. They described how scared and desperate they were especially those with prior convictions. I called and left a message and Gary called me back Saturday morning. First, he acknowledged my humanity by saying he was sorry my evening was ruined. It was exactly what I needed to hear from him. He told me everything would be okay. I felt better right away.
The first thing he did was advise me to go to DMV on Monday and get a new license. He said it would take a few days for the paperwork to arrive. I went down Monday and got my license. He was correct. I felt better already. So far, they were right. Next, my first trial date was scheduled for a Friday before I was to attend a family reunion with my whole family getting on a plane. I couldn’t tell my mom that I couldn’t make it because I had a trial that day. I needed a continuance. They promised me I would receive it. Even though the courts waited until a week before my reunion, Rebecca told me to enjoy the reunion as my continuance was granted.
The trial arrived a few months later and I was a nervous wreck. Gary appeared and said that proving a checkpoint case in Maryland requires a high standard. He really knew his stuff. Hew noticed that the watch commander was missing. He told me that we should try for a trial now and that everything was appealable. I said, “Let’s go.” I trusted him completely. At first, the prosecutor argued that the missing commander was caused by them not receiving a summons. Gary argued that it was the fault of the state and they failed to notify him. He even called out the state as being disingenuous. The state asked for more time. An hour went by and I watched the Judge sentence one person after another to long periods of supervised probation. I was in a daze. Finally, Gary said it was time. He said you are going to like this outcome. Gary knew the Judge would not grant another continuance even if I asked for the first one. I stood in front of the Judge. The state said something. Some Latin was spoken. A Minute later, I was told to wait for two pieces of paper. I waited and then I was handed a piece of paper that said, Noloprosecur and had zero’s all over it. All charges were dropped. I started to feel this incredible relief for the first time in six months.
The following week I went to the DMV and I was handed a 45 day restricted license with Rebecca representing me. The amount I paid them was so far below what it was worth, but they do charge a fixed fee for both the trial and the DMV hearing and that makes it even less stressful.
I am so indebted to Gary, Rebecca and Sara that I will name my next cat, Gary, if it is a boy and, Rebecca, if it is a girl.

Mr. Gerstenfield is an amazingly effective and truly gifted litigator and advocate. There is no problem too great or dilemma too difficult that Gary cannot solve. Among journeymen lawyers, Gary is universally recognized as a master. But, what really distinguishes Gary as among the elite of trial lawyers is the warmth and compassion he brings in resolving the seemingly unsolvable legal issues that many his clients face.
