OK - I'm writing as Anonymous for obvious reasons. Let me just say that we got ourselves into a bind with a startup business. Although we're highly experienced business owners and entrepreneurs, we didn't see this rapid chain of events. Within a 12-month period we went from very well off to literal...ly penniless. My only regret is that we didn't reach out to David Offen sooner. Out of pride, shame, embarrassment - emotional reasons that really should have no place in financial matters, but that are the source of all bad decisions - we had already liquidated all of our assets except our home, including our retirement savings and our life insurance policies. Bad move on my part. Bad move. David's deep experience and solid contacts within the court system helped us survive. We kept our home, and, we were able to produce a Chapter 13 plan that we can live with and that gives us opportunity to rebuild (which we certainly will do). There isn't anything I can say that isn't positive. Normally, I discount those kinds of reviews. But that's basically where I am with David Offen. I will say that if you are the type of person that needs to know all of the details, David's style might make you feel uneasy. I'm not that type of person. And, because I was able to vet David through former clients of his (who happened to be business neighbors our ours), I extended my complete trust in his offices. The words I heard most were, "Don't worry. You're fine. We'll let you know if we need anything." We received scary letters from the Trustee. We had calls from the IRS. And a few other things that drove my blood pressure to deathly high levels. But they'd just say "Oh, didn't we mention you'd get that letter? Don't worry. We'll call you if you need anything." We'd later find out that David knows all of the individuals from long experience working with them on the opposite side of 20+ years of cases. Indeed, it all worked out just fine. We received notice yesterday that our Chapter 13 plan has been accepted by the court. I can't tell you how relieved and grateful I and my wife are. We have a lot of spine, but with four kids under 10 years old, moving would have been a nightmare of epic proportions. Now our family can get to the hard work of rebuilding our finances and our reputation without the tremendous stress and opportunity cost of a total liquidation bankruptcy. Thank you, so much, David.
