About me

I represent local, national and global businesses with registering and enforcing their intellectual property rights in the United States and abroad, and with other business transactions and litigation. The clients I help are focused in the technology, entertainment, manufacturing, retail, hospitality and health care industries, but I enjoy working with entrepreneurs, start-ups and established companies in all industries.

I advise clients on topics such as:

-- the development, protection, marketing and distribution of products, services and technologies

-- preparing, filing and prosecuting trademark applications and proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office

-- registering and enforcing trademarks and copyrights in the United States and internationally

-- negotiation and drafting of license agreements, joint venture agreements and intellectual property assignments and transfers

-- transactions and agreements related to e-commerce, hosting, software and SaaS

-- data security and privacy

-- employer policies regarding technology, such as acceptable use policies and social media

-- protection of confidential information and trade secrets

-- intellectual property disputes and commercial litigation, including claims related to the Lanham Act, Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, Copyright Act and other federal and state claims

-- domain name disputes, cybersquatting and other legal issues arising on the internet

-- other general business transactions such as formation, reorganization, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, real estate and commercial contracts

I am admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.

I am an assistant editor of the Vindobona Journal of International Commercial Law and Arbitration, and regularly contribute articles to various industry and legal publications.

I received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a Master of Science from Auburn University. I earned a Juris Doctor from The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, a Postgraduate Certificate in International Business Law and Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of London. During law school, I worked as a law clerk to Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice J. Michael Eakin and worked with Mid Penn Legal Services to help provide legal assistance to low-income individuals.
