Ms. Tebano has litigated cases in all Capital Region courts that hear family law and divorce matters. After nearly two decades of practice, Maria offers extensive experience in the highly specialized areas of matrimonial law including agreements ( prenuptial, postnuptial, and separation), custody and visitation, equitable distribution,  spouse and child support evaluations, enforcement and modification proceedings,  awards of counsel fees and expert fees. Maria also offers strategic, goal oriented representation in a variety of other practice areas, among them are matters involving all aspects of civil litigation , employment law , real estate transactions, and trusts and estates .

Maria earned her B.A. degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Albany, her J.D. degree from St. Thomas University School of Law and then went on to obtain a Master of Laws in Taxation (L.L.M.) from the University of Miami School of Law.

Maria has been featured as a speaker for the National Business Institute (NBI) and Lorman Education Services on a variety of topics, including civil litigation, and family and divorce law.

Great attorney
hired Maria in 2020 for my Divorce matter. My Divorce case moved along in a timely fashion and she did an excellent job in representing my best interest. She would not let me settle for less than what I deserved and she did not let me get taken advantage of. She is very honest and to the point. There is no other way to say that Maria is an expectational attorney.

Maria rocked my divorce case with her exceptional expertise, dedication, leadership, communication skills, in an impressively prompt and timely manner, and I learned a lot from her as well. The pay rates were pretty reasonable, as well, which was highly appreciated, with me and my two children losing one of the family breadwinners. Her very knowledgeable and kind staff, Katrina, was also of a tremendous help. An Incredible Attorney....
Writing this review for my recent experience in retaining Maria Tebano as my attorney in an extremely difficult and contentious post-divorce case. It would be an understatement on my part to just say Maria did a good job.....rather she was absolutely incredible. Her attention to detail, her command of the law, her total understanding of my case, and most importantly her legal strategy were absolutey impeccable. Maria was steadfast in her approach and ensured my interests were protected 100%. She handled adversity, confrontation, and issues with the utmost of professionalism and resolve. On top of her professional skills, she was extremely effective and diligent in communicating with me every step of the way during this journey. BEST IN THE AREA!
Maria has been absolutely downright amazing- I could not ask for more in an attorney. Her passion for family law is simply beyond what any words could describe. Maria not only does her job far better than any attorney I've ever encountered, but does so with strong integrity & heart. She is extremely responsive & has a miraculous way of making you feel like you're her only client due to her dedication to your case and level of efficiency. Phenomenal Divorce Attorney!
Maria Tebano handled my case very professionally and got results. Ms. Tebano was very responsive to my inquiries and was always available, when I called. She kept me apprised of everything that happened on my case and I didn't worry about anything because I knew she was handling my matter. She was also very good about her billing. Without question, I can only define Ms. Tebano's talent as a divorce attorney by using these adjectives: divine, marvelous, delightful, magnificent, splendid, superb, just simply the BEST! Excellent Communication

Excellent advocate
How I wish I'd found Maria years ago! My original divorce attorney didn't keep me informed, did not return even infrequent phone calls, and made agreements with my ex's attorney without even consulting me, only telling me after the fact. I learned the hard way about what I had a right to expect from my attorney. Maria Tebano used her skills, insight, and unfailing advocacy to resolve a financial problem with my ex-husband. I am as grateful for her compassion as I am for her excellent work. I knew she was fighting for me every step of the way. I can't recommend Maria highly enough.

Simply the BEST!!
After my first Family Court appearance with a lawyer, NOT MARIA, I was shell shocked to say the least. I could not believe what had just happened. Suffice it to say, after that experience, I asked this lawyer, "OK, now put yourself in my shoes for a minute. Imagine your estranged spouse trying to destroy you. Who would you hire as your Attorney. Without hesitation, this lawyer said MARIA TEBANO." That being said, I'm not a big fan of Family Court / Civil Court. Also, I am not a fan of lawyers. However, I will say with conviction....Maria IS the EXPERT in Family/Matrimonial/Divorce Law who you want to have represent you! From day one, Maria was on time, organized and well prepared. As cliche as it may sound, Maria got results! A few things I appreciated most while being represented by her are; her ability to make you feel as if you are her only client, her timeliness of response to my e-mails and phone calls, her expert knowledge, and her warm professionalism throughout my entire Family Court / Supreme Court process. I have recommeded Maria, without hesitation or reservation, to anyone and everyone who has asked, "Do you know a good lawyer."

A Tough, Thorough and Fair Client Advocate
Maria was very informative and well versed in family law. She was honest and sincere with me, even when the information and/or advice she gave me wasn't always what I wanted to hear. She won my case hands down and was fair with her billing practices. She was able to get me more than I anticipated in my divorce settlement. She also handled the closings of my sold and purchased homes with ease.

Passionate, Intelligent, Experienced Attorney
Maria has been a blessing to my family and I. She handled my custody case like the Ultimate Professional that she is. She worked very hard on my case, kept me focused on the "Bigger Picture" and always responded to my emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Very helpful attorney
Ms. Tebano never hesitated to help with my traffic ticket no matter how big or small, she actually had one ticket reduced to a lesser violation and it saved my job

Outstanding Attorney
Maria Tebano, is very professional in and out of court, her knowledge of the law is outstanding, Ms. Tebano handled my divorce and made sure that I received everything that I was entitled too. She also handed my child support, she never hesitated to go to court with me for non payment of child support. She was never to business to talk to me about my case or to take my phone calls she made me feel like my case was very important to her.

Maria Tebano is an excellent attorney
Maria is very knowledgeable of the law, experienced and can see the bigger picture. She doesn't get sidetracked by smaller details, which also keeps the client on track. She knows when to call in other experts, such as property assessors, to support the case. She returns emails on nights and week-ends, as well as during the day. I definitely felt that it was well worth the cost of retaining her services. She is very hard working, experienced, moral, supportive and extremely bright. I would recommend her to anyone. Additionally I would retain her services in the future for any other legal matters that may arise. I feel fortunate that she was originally recommended to me.

Maria is an outstanding divorce and family law attorney. She handled my divorce matter with the utmost professionalism. She was very accessible and knowledgeable on the law and process and exceptionally skilled in her profession. Her breathe of knowledge and responsiveness is to compelling to overlook and unparalleled. Maria's attentiveness to her clients and the facts underlying their case is obvious based on how she handled my case. Her awareness of my case with a kin eye to detail was more then incredible. I have dealt with other attorneys in the past that have been very disappointing. I also had direct and immediate contact with Maria, no gate keepers. As an ancillary benefit, Maria does not engage in unorthodox billing practices. I never had a problem with her billing style and trusted her to handle my case without concern. I would highly recommend her.
