Municipal code issue resolution

I've known Bryan for over a decade and have always found him insightful and thoughtful in his approach to assessing and working through problems. I recently was confronted with a municipal issue in NJ and sought his guidance how on best to proceed. Bryan Berson

I contacted Bryan Berson for Trust Advice and heresponded almost immediately which was very impressive. I ended up hiring him months later for my Real Estate purchase and selling closings , he did a fantastic job. My purchase closing was was right in the middle of the pandemic and Bryan orchestrated ...all the parties virtually to complete their tasks on schedule. (Didn't have to shake 1 hand) . Thanks again.

Highly Intelligent, Ethical and Compassionate

On April 13, 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in NY, my doctor called and advised that the surgery for removal of my left kidney had to occur within 48 hours. 3 weeks earlier, I'd been diagnosed with a very badly damaged kidney due to an accident. With the medical team, we'd hope to push ...the unavoidable surgery to the end of May, perhaps past the overcrowded hospital situation in NY and also to lessen my exposure to the coronavirus immediately before major organ surgery. Unfortunately, I developed a very high fever and the fear that a deadly sepsis condition was rapidly developing led to the surgeon's decision to operate ASAP. To say I was stunned to begin with with the initial prognosis and course of treatment - a radical nephrectomy, a complete removal of my kidney - is an understatement. I had been asymptomatic for several months and my orthopedist believed I suffered a bad lower back sprain. We were all shocked to see the unrecognizably heavily damaged kidney on the returned MRI and CT scans. Given that it was decided to push surgery until the end of May, I'd begun to make arrangements for then regarding babysitter, dogwalker, housekeeping, post-operative nursing care, transportation and, with my small business and nonprofit, to hand over the day-to-day reins to my partners. So much for advance planning with barely 18 hours notice that the "when" of the surgery had turned into "now". On that April 13th, the evening before my hospitalization, Bryan immediately jumped into action and held my emotional hand as we (Bryan) prepared my living will with my Do Not Resuscitate wishes, my Power of Attorney and Health Care Proxy documents. I hadn't even considered these very necessary documents, still reeling in shock at the speed with which events were unfolding by the minute. Bryan patiently, expertly and compassionately led me through the process of understanding the documents- from the authority I was granting to my POA assignee to discussing in depth my wishes should the unimaginable occur (suffering severe complications or worse). As I faced making these decisions with my own growing awareness of just how serious the surgery would be, albeit I had great faith in my surgeon and doctors overall, oddly, the more Bryan explained the processes and we discussed my options and decisions, the calmer I became. Bryan engaged me in conversation and explained these complex matters in a non-patronizing manner, broadening my understanding and had me come away with a comprehensive education on these matters in a relatively short period of time. Given the extremely brief notice by the surgeon, I yet never felt rushed by Bryan and, in fact, when we ended, literally at midnight, I actually fell asleep very peacefully and the next morning, headed to the hospital in a positive mood, knowing that my personal legal house was in order. Bryan had even arranged to have witnesses to observe my signatures at those late hours! Bryan's compassionate nature is matched by his depth and breadth of knowledge, his towering intelligence and high ethical standards. There is an insufficiency of praiseworthy words in our language to describe my regard for Bryan Berson.
