I received a speeding ticket for going 81 in a 55 on the LIE in Southhampton. I was going to just plead guilty and pay the fine to avoid having to drive two hours to the Hamptons to try and plead not guilty. I did some research as to the fines I would be paying and found out not only would I have 6pt...s on my license, but would be subject to $100 fine every year from the DMV to "assess" my driving. I received a moving violation (crossing from a regular lane into an HOV lane) on the LIE in Suffolk County in early November when I was about to move to Florida. According to the ticket, also the court date wouldn’t be until mid-January, when I no longer would be in New York. Even worse, I found out ...the points would transfer (ugh), would have higher insurance rates (I had to get auto insurance in Florida) and would have to live with the fear of getting another one for 3 years along with the possibility of even higher insurance rates. I hired and paid his fee on the spot. Sure enough, a few weeks later, it was all taken care of! I paid the fine on the Suffolk County Traffic Ticket web site and the whole episode was finished!
