I met Chris after being legally divorced for about a year. My ex was back to prescription drug abuse (he had gone to rehab for this same substance which led to the divorce) and I wanted an attorney that would help me protect my young children. I hired an attorney but it seemed like she didn't unders...tand substance abuse (which was a MUST for me and my case), and then I hired a 2nd attorney who, while they said they understood the situation, didn't. The "straw the broke the camel's back" was when, during a hearing, they didn't defend me because they forgot the details. I had a feeling I would be going to trial and I DIDN'T want these people representing me. I knew, after 2 attorneys, I needed the best. I interviewed a lot of people and decided that Chris would be the best-- he gave me the time during the consult, seemed like he understood drug use, and followed what I was saying. He was clearly competent. During the course of the next few months (or was it years?!) leading up the trial, he did a fine job. Even before we started the trial, I got remarried and needed to relocate to another state-- Chris knew it would be a hard one, but felt we had a good shot relocation as well. At one point, an associate had to help me with a matter, but the associate seemed competent and kind. However, at one point, I think he said the wrong information to me, but it didn't cause too many issues later on (just an awkward moment at the trial...). When we got to trial, Chris was a superstar. The difference between him and my ex's attorney was huge-- she appeared like she didn't know what to do at times, and she was throwing everything at the wall to see what stuck. It was gross and obnoxious. At one point, the judge had to help her phrase a question because no one knew what she was trying to ask. I think even the judge was getting annoyed by her. But Chris was clear, to the point, and knew what to address, and what wasn't important. He caught my ex lying, and perhaps the most important thing-- he was able to get the judge to completely understand the situation and all the details. This is critical-- you may be right, but it doesn't mean the judge will understand the truth of the situation. Chris understood and was able to communicate the details to the court. And you know what? I won. We won. And we won big time. When Chris walked into the courthouse, every attorney bows to him-- I even had other attorneys come up to me and say how lucky I was to have him. But Chris isn't cheap. You need money to be in court. However, if you have to use the court system, he's worth every dollar. Don't waste your money on attorneys that are cheaper-- you'll end up wasting your money, and losing. Court is brutal as it is. If you want to hire someone else, good luck.
