About my practice: With degrees in both law and behavioral forensic psychology, I have a unique approach to resolving family conflict and divorce matters that is interdisciplinary, holistic to the parenting dynamic, and highly effective.
There have been sweeping changes in family law during the past few years. Clients require assertive advocacy that is also common sense and cost effective. Options to avoid litigation should be explored from the beginning of every case. Expectations of clients must be in line with courtroom reality.
In my practice as a negotiator and neutral mediator, the vast majority of cases are resolved out of court. The legal process works best when both lawyers communicate and encourage their clients to remain amicable and avoid unrealistic positions regarding custody and finances.
My experience encompassing over 20 years as a trial attorney, mediator and victims’ advocate includes familiarity with cases involving high net worth and complex assets, domestic violence, mental health issues, personality disorders, substance addiction, religious divorce (both the Jewish Gett and Islamic Mahr), and special needs children.
As part of my many volunteer activities, I am proud to serve in several professional, community and non profit organizations. My law firm, Wisselman Harounian & Associates, PC, is dedicated to our clients and our community, and we are committed to helping those in need through philanthropy and leadership.

Suspended means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.
Jacqueline's comment:“I am practicing full time as a partner at WH&A, where I have worked since I was a law student in 1993. I am happy to answer any questions clients or others may have about my temporary suspension from practice in 2016. It resulted from a real estate closing escrow account I handled for a family member back in 2005 and is totally unrelated to my practice in family law. The suspension is currently being reviewed by the New York Court of Appeals.”

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.
