Be careful
e careful - Gus charged me over $238,000 in 5 months and had a check from my house closing sent to him directly and in his name, leaving me with no money from July to December. It was and is still very difficult to live after not working for 10 years, and raising children for 16 years. My husband, my...
The settlement was reached after weeks of negotiation with the client's trusted advisors involved, and all fees—and how they were paid—were directly approved by the court. However, I’d like to offer a broader perspective—one rooted in decades of helping people navigate one of the most painful chapters in life: divorce. Divorce litigation is not just a legal process. It is, for many, a deeply emotional and psychologically taxing journey. It involves the unravelling of families, dreams, and financial security. It stirs fear, resentment, disappointment, and—understandably—grief. When clients come to us, they often do so not only seeking legal representation, but also hoping for validation, protection, and justice. That’s a heavy burden, and one I do not take lightly. The truth is, the legal system, while structured to protect rights and ensure fairness, is not designed to resolve every perceived injustice or emotional wound. Family courts are overburdened and limited in what they can do. Judges must apply the law—not necessarily morality or compassion—and are frequently constrained by what is provable, permissible, and procedural. I’ve seen countless clients struggle with the outcome (and in very limited circumstances like this, even after they participated in weeks of negotiation and signed an agreement)—not because the result was flawed or poorly litigated, but because no courtroom ruling or settlement can fully mend a broken heart or undo years of emotional strain. Sometimes, the greatest victory in divorce is not about “winning” in court, or “getting what you want” in settlement, but accepting a result that lets you reclaim your life and move forward with dignity and peace. That said, I care deeply about my clients. I advocate fiercely, negotiate strategically, and approach each case with the professionalism and empathy it deserves. But I also tell the truth, even when it's hard to hear.
