Price paid not worth the result
Michael and his team did get points off of my ticket, however using another law firm would have yielded the same result and would have been cheaper. The extra premium is not worth the result.
I wish I knew who this was so that I can comment specifically to your complaint. If you call or e-mail me and tell me who you are I will update my response. Knowing what I do from your comment, all I can say is that we specialize in traffic ticket defense. We don't dabble in it and it's not a side hustle - this is what we do, which means that our reputation resides in this practice area. Whenever you hire a lawyer, for anything, the three hallmarks of the right lawyer is one that (1) specializes in what you need, (2) is in high demand, and (3) charges a professional price. Professional price = professional work, unprofessional price - unprofessional work. You claim that had you paid an unprofessional price the result would have been the same, however you don't know that. We only tell our clients the net result, not what we had to do to get there. When you retain us we don't just stand in for our clients like what happens with an unprofessional law firm. We actively litigate your case by doing our discovery and disclosure. I would love, love, love to detail the specific procedural history of your case to illustrate to anyone who sees this exactly what we did so that they can make up their own minds. And, if you have the courage to call or e-mail me with whom you are I will do just that. However, if someone is reading my response in its current iteration, know that the reviewer who sandbagged me with an anonymous review not recommending me did not have the internal fortitude to identify themselves to me so that I could fully defend the work I did in this case. I would hope that anyone reading this reviews any one of my literally hundreds of 5 star reviews and then judges me for themselves by calling us anytime, 24 / 7 at 914-777-2990. Speeding Ticket
I was told that my speeding ticket would very likely be reduced to zero points and a nominal fine. While Michael was able to get me zero points, the fine ended up being 4x more than what he said was the highly likely outcome. I thought I was paying for a premium lawyer to get me a lower fine, but was...
I did exactly as promised. Sentencing (i.e., the amount of the fine), is up to the discretion of the court. If I did not accept the fine amount set, I would have had to set the case down for trial. Had you lost, you would have gotten all of the points, a much higher fine, and a huge insurance increase. Also, when you are found guilty after trial you lose total ability to control your sentence. This means that the judge could have, in addition to assessing a much higher fine, suspended your license. I would never put a client in such risk, and judging from your complaints here had your license been suspended because I turned down what you perceive to be a high fine you would have had an aneurysm. You paid a premium lawyer to know what to do to protect their clients. Yes, it was an excessive fine I agree, but let's read between the lines here. When a judge assesses a high fine, they are transmitting to you that they really don't care about your trials and tribulations. Would you really want me to seek a trial dismissal in front of that guy, or would you want me to exercise my experience, wisdom and common sense and close the case out?

Mr. Mancuso you can have your own opinion but not your own facts. As I told you repeatedly in no way did I state that I would postpone the case for a minimum of 18 months, and in no way did I state that the points would be "erased" and will not go on your driving record. My firm is a boutique law practice and I have been doing this a long time. As told you, and as I tell EVERYONE who consults us and asks about points, points and convictions are NEVER erased from a driving record. EVER. Your driving record is there permanently and there is a permanent, lifetime driving record that the NYS DMV maintains on you. If you, or anyone that sees this does not believe me, you can requisition your lifetime driving record from the NYS DMV and see what I am saying by going to this link: https://dmv.ny.gov/get-my-own-lifetime-driving-record. What you are confused about, and where you get the 18 month period from, is that there are LOOK BACK periods for certain things. We discussed that the 18 month look back comes into play if you accrue too many points within an 18 month period then the NYS DMV fines you more above and beyond the court fine, called an "assessment," and if you hit 11 points in 18 months then the DMV suspends your license. Anyone who sees doesn't have to take my word for it. THIS is what I explained to you and the reason why we adjourn the case for AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. At NO TIME did I guarantee a minimum 18 month adjournment. I never do that nor can I do that, and if anyone wants to vet me out on that simply call our office and ask anyone you speak to from my office if we can guarantee a minimum 18 month adjournment. We will tell you that we cannot. The NYC traffic court system is unlike the rest of the state in that there is no plea bargaining. A plea bargain is where an attorney negotiates with the prosecutor to avoid a trial and reduce the charge by pleading your client guilty to a charge that has no impact on his insurance rates and driving history and carries a small fine. Inasmuch as a motorist cannot do that in NYC, the motorists must take every case to trial. As in anything, you win some and you lose some. Any lawyer that tells you he wins 100% of his NYC traffic trials is lying, and if he is not lying then he has to be paying people off. It's IMPOSSIBLE to win 100% of your cases in that court, or any court for that matter, unless you do 1 trial, win, and retire. While Mr. Mancuso claims that we are "not the best in the market," what he fails to tell you is that in 2016 we represented him in a court in upstate NY (our law firm covers the entire state), and negotiated a plea from a 4 point speed to a zero point parking ticket. That was the absolute best deal that we could have gotten for him. I reviewed my client reviews from around that time frame (Nov. of 2016 - Jan. 2017) and it is quite apparent to me that at that time he did not leave me a 5 star review stating that we are the "best in market," even though we got him the best possible result. So this is the source of this negative review - someone who, after we did the best possible job anyone could ask for did not leave a positive review, but when they were disappointed an outcome which is to a large degree beyond our control, point fingers and blame, claims we consulted on things we never said and which anyone can look up at the DMV's web site as untrue, and claims that we are "not the best in the market." If you have a traffic ticket you need handled plea, by all means, go to the links I provided and vet out what I am explaining for yourself. help with traffic ticket
Even though I did not hear much during the process, he helped me greatly in my traffic ticket situation.
What I am most proud of in this review is the fact that I was given a very high rating on trustworthiness and knowledge, Also I understand and appreciate what this client means when he says that he did not hear much during the process. When you retain our firm for a traffic ticket a large part of the benefit of the service is convenience and as I put it "hassle free representation." There are many stages to defending a traffic ticket - negotiating, discovery, motions, hearings, and if required trial. It is our job to advocate for our clients with as little annoyance to them as possible. Only in rare instances do I need to contact a client for something, What is important is that once a case wraps up and there is a fine to be paid that the instructions be quickly and accurately relayed to the client. Failure to pay a fine will lead to a license suspension and the court can also issue a warrant. Our office advises our clients within 24 hours of a case closure of fine payment instructions. Further, we do this by all means possible - via e-mail, regular mail, and phone. I have never had an experience that a court called and advised that a client failed to pay a fine or a client called expressing that they found out the hard way that they should have paid a fine.
