Trish received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated from Villanova University School of Law in 2008.
While in law school, Trish participated in the CARES Clinic (Clinic for Asylum and Refugee Services) and successfully litigated an asylum case on behalf of a refugee and her two young daughters seeking protection from ongoing sexualabuse perpetrated by a member of a domestic militarized organization. Trish also participated in The Philadelphia Defender’s Externship where she was certified to represent persons facing criminal charges; and also completed internships in the Philadelphia County District Attorney’s Office, and in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.
After graduating from law school, Trish enjoyed a clerkship with The Honorable Julio L. Mendez, the Presiding Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court, Family Division in Vicinage XV, where she gained valuable experience and insight into all areas of family law. At the same time, Trish successfully mediated cases in small claims court as a Certified Mediator.
Prior to joining Lyons and Associates, P.C., Trish spent a number of years representing children in abuse and neglect (DYFS / DCPP) litigation, on behalf of the State of New Jersey Office of the Law Guardian; and thereafter briefly practiced as a solo attorney, primarily focusing on family law and civil litigation. At Lyons & Associates P.C., Trish continues to focus on all areas within family law.
Trish is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, and the District Court of New Jersey. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the Essex County Bar Association.

Smart, deeply-experienced, knowledgeable and not merely "competent" - but "good!" Ms. Ames is a zealous, passionate, and aggressive advocate for her clients' interests. She is always a very well prepared, tenacious, and formidable adversary, who seems most at home in court. Few attorneys would want to oppose her, and I unabashedly and categorically endorse and recommend her professional services.
