Edison, NJ - DUI Case

This past April, I was charged with a DUI with 0.18 BAC, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and driving to close to the vehicle in front of me. In other words, I was pretty much looking at 7 months without my license, an interlocking device hooked up to my car for the following 6 months, fine...s up the wazoo, and I don’t even know how many points on my license. After doing some research online, I found Mr. Blauvelt on avvo.com and was quite impressed with all his positive reviews, especially for DUI/DWI cases. I decided to reach out to him and boy what a smart decision that turned out to be. Instantly, I knew I had picked the “right” lawyer by just the questions he was asking me in the free consultation. Instead of explaining me his fees and the fines I was facing, he was trying to learn about every minute detail of that night, hoping to find any mistake(s) that the state trooper may have done Ultimately, Mr. Blauvelt was able to get my BAC reading removed from my case, dropping my penalty to a much less severe punishment (90 days suspension vs. 7 months suspension + 6 months interlocking device). He and his expert had found an error in the breathalyzer report, which made my reading questionable. In addition, Mr. Blauvelt was able to get my other three tickets dismissed. I high recommend Mr. Thomas Blauvelt not only for his professionalism and expertise, but also for his devotion and willingness to help his clients. Thank you again Tom.

unlicensed driving client

I only had NY permit driving in NJ and got into an accident. Got unlicensed driver and careless driving ticket. I was so afraid to get my license suspended.But the attorney successfully negotiate my ticket down to an expired driver license ticket. And because of my ny learner's permit, there were no... points on my future license. Totally only 300 fines. Strongly recommend!!!

Best Defense Attorney with strong recommendation

I was charged with DWI with 0.16 BAC, Reckless driving, and bunch of other charges. I selected Mr Blauvelt to represent me based on his strong ratings and referral from friends. He comforted me and did a thorough discovery and fought for me vigorously. He would keep me informed about the progress of ...the case at all times. Ultimately Mr Blauvelt was able to take out the reading from the Report and I got a minor sentence compared to what I was expecting. I highly recommend Mr Blauvelt and his professionalism and experience in dealing with complex cases.

Strongly recommend

Thomas is just awesome! Extremely professional, I almost lost my driving license, he was able to negotiate it down to ZERO points. I can't thank him enough. Strongly recommend. A+++

Plain and simple: Thomas Blauvelt is phenomenal!

I had 3 summons: 2c:28-4b(1), 2c:33-2a(2) & 2C:35-10.5A(3). The summons 2c:28-4b(1) & 2c:33-2a(2) each carried 6 months in jail and $1000 fine. The summon for 2C:35-10.5A(3) was the gorilla, though. The summon carried a fine of up to $200,000 and a year in jail. I was in a lot of trouble, a...nd I wasn't helping him either! I had demands that made this more challenging than it needed to be: I was a bestman in my brothers wedding, and my court date fell on his wedding. I was also moving that month, so I needed to wrap up my case quickly. It was a mess. I was scared, confused and I really didn't know what to do. I knew I needed a good lawyer, though. I am addicted to reviews, so I did my research on Hoboken attorneys and came across Thomas Blauvelt. Thomas is my hero. He is endlessly passionate about his clients and to say that he changed my life is an understatement. First off, Thomas was able to reschedule my court date so I could attend my brothers wedding. Second, and likely the most important, Thomas was able to get my 2C:35-10.5A(3) completely dismissed! Third, Thomas knew I was moving, so when he showed up to court he went straight to the prosecutor and was able to reduce my remaining charges to Breach of Peace! What is important to note here is Thomas took into account my career. I wasn't very aware of my charges showing up on job applications, so I never really asked him to take that into consideration, but he did! In conclusion, Thomas was able to reduce my charges from around $210,000 and over a year in jail to $1,000 fine, no jail time and minimal record. If you are looking for a Hoboken criminal defense attorney I demand you hire Thomas Blauvelt. Demand "is" the right word, because if you are reading this review you need someone who is going to listen, care and, most importantly, get you through your own situation. It is impossible for me to "encourage" or "highly recommend" you to hire Thomas because that would undermine my faith in his abilities.
