Recent alimony reform in New Jersey was a small step in the right direction but more must be done. For many years I obliged and provided all support for the children including college, cars, etc. But changing times, personal struggles with health, an inflexible court system and a content ex-partner left little hope, not to mention a stupid decision on my part a long time ago with some seriously bad counsel. I felt though I had one more battle in me to find a way.
You see, the problem is that where there is a movement afoot to get rid of 'alimony forever', many of these divorce attorneys are also battling against reform. They feed off one of the emotionally distressed partners while the other suffers (and hires another attorney). In searching for someone to stand with me, I encountered quite a few. Thankfully my research led me to Jef.
Jef is assisting with getting more reform so he knows the issue, inside and out. He was the best hire I ever made, and I have hired hundreds of people including many attorneys. We discussed the issue, worked as a team, and 7 months later we had resolution. He was always available, communicated well and yes, even his fees were totally transparent and fair.
If you are one of thousands who are suffering from these outdated and antiquated laws, even with this most recent reform, I would recommend calling Jef. At the very least, you can be assured you will be speaking to someone very knowledgeable and just as important, someone who will represent you and not be associated with groups who would like to see the laws stay exactly as they are. But, I believe you will get more than that. Hiring an attorney to help you navigate the current system is difficult but not impossible to find someone who really gets it. I believe Jef is such an attorney.

There is only one choice when the DCPP becomes involved in your life. Even if the worker, investigator or supervisor is morally sound it still does not make up for the fact that the rules they abide by are broken, they are overworked and there is no possible way they can make a judgment on your Life by filling out a few checklists and getting a couple of references. These people are also obligated by the state to put you into programs where they will receive money, . They are usually burned out and want to punish you for whatever reason they feel Is easiest. They are not educated and they do not have medical or legal degrees to make any kind of assumption on the health and well-being of your child. We need a system in the country to protect our children but CPS a.k.a. the DCPP are not the right choice. They are not governed by anyone but themselves, they do not have random audits done on them, and they have completely legal immunity to do lots of very nasty things to destroy families when they are supposed to be helping them. Jef and his team were very informational, calm and collected, and kept me from worrying throughout the whole case. His demeanor reputation and connections are something that you will desperately want on your side when the DCPP becomes a part of your life. my recommendation would be to retain Jef and also educate yourself on the laws of the state and what the DCP P handbook states. The DCP P advocacy department are not lawyers and do not even know their own state and country laws.
Do not wait on retaining a lawyer and do not comply with them unless your lawyer tells you too. Do not think because you are educated, have a nice home , are a good parent, and have great references that the DCPP will be good. They may go after you even harder because of it. GET JEF NOW

My nephew was placed in emergency foster care in NJ. I contacted Jef within the hour of finding out by phone as we live in NC. From the moment I spoke with Jef he began working to help us get custody of our nephew. Due to the county in NJ we were dealing with things were very difficult but Jef continued to fight for us. We went up to NJ to court in February and it was ruled that we needed to be a licensed foster home to gain custody of our nephew, which in our state is at minimum a 6 month process. This was not acceptable, and Jef said he would do everything possible to get him to us sooner. We were instructed to come back to NJ March 22nd for another court date. Initially the court was going to hold to the fact that we had to be licensed to gain custody even though we weren't requesting any subsidy or support. However, because of Jef and his team, we had him in our arms several hours later. The entire courtroom was in tears because everyone was so happy with the outcome. Because of Jef, we got our boy. Because of Jef, we saved our nephew from the horrors of foster care. That is how Jef literally changed our lives, and we will be forever thankful!

Jef represented me in my case to eliminate my alimony payments so I could consider retiring. He was responsive, gave great advice, negotiated on my behalf, and took care of all the court filings and administration and paperwork. He got me what I wanted. His fee was much lower than I had expected, partly because he operates very lean and very efficiently. I would recommend him highly to anyone needing a good lawyer. I would hire him again in a minute next time I need a NJ lawyer. I could not have had better representation.

I talked to him and hired him for an emancipation case based off of the big game he talks. In court I find out he's going to school ok so a reduction in child support is brought up and shot down because it wasn't filed for with the emancipation. One would think an Attorney they hire would tell their client to check that off in the original paper work when filing for emancipation just in case the emancipation wasn't approved but of course he wouldn't be able to make more money that way.

I am extremely please to have had Jef and his firm assist me with an unfortunate matter that could have happened to anyone. He and his associates and staff were there for me from day one all the way through to the resolution of my matter. Would recommend to anyone. Above and beyond being a great lawyer, Jef is a great person.

I retained Jef Henninger for a child support emancipation case. It was not a clear cut case as the other parent was suing to emancipate my adult college student son. My son did not maintain a passing grade point average and I was extremely concerned. Jef Henninger took my case on very short notice and was able to obtain a very fair settlement that was beneficial to all parties including my son. It was handled quickly and very professionally saving both parents a great deal of money in legal fees. This also saved me, the custodial parent a lot of stress.
