I had never been in trouble with the law up until a few months ago. Although, not the most severe of crimes I was still worried of the potential ramifications (eg. possibly losing my job, unable to acquire a new position, embarrassment, etc.). Tormey Law Firm treated me with respect from the moment I spoke with him on the phone and was direct and concise on the possible outcomes and how we would proceed with the case. I was in a bind and they really helped me a lot! Particularly, Christopher Perry, he dealt specifically with my case and answered all of my one-million questions with patience and a smile. I could not be happier with the outcome. Thank you once again!

I was arrested in October in NJ. I was taken the hospital and then released on my own recognizance. I went in for processing and received two disorderly persons charges. As I live in NYC I didn't initially put as much effort as I should have into it. I knew the date and tried to figure out if I could represent myself.
Eventually the date was coming up and I didn't have transportation to NJ (it's three or four hours by public transportation options). I found reviews online that were very positive for the Tormey law firm and called them up.
A friendly young woman named Samantha helped me get sorted out right away. She scheduled my court appearance for a date much further in the future which allowed me to have some time to get everything together. She called the court and had the prosecutors information sent over.
About five days before I was scheduled to appear I talked to my lawyer, a man named Chris. He informed me what was likely to happen and told me he could pick me up from the train stop and drop me off after the court appearance.
On the day of, we went in, and everything went smoothly. The Judge seemed to be a very fair man and suggested a cheaper alternative for me than the solution we were going for. Conditional Dismissal instead of Conditional Discharge which saved me about $400 dollars.
The firms overall price of $1500 may seem like a lot initially but even after the court date was over I've had a few questions which have been answered in a prompt fashion and I was happy to have the professionalism of the firm at my side while going up. Some of the lawyers I saw in court were considerably less professional.
In the end, I believe you get what you pay for. Perhaps I could have skated by with a less expensive lawyer, and maybe in my case (out of state resident, steady job as an engineer, decently spoken and dressed, relatively innocuous first time charges in municipal court) I could have gotten the same results. That being said, each time I got one of those pesky legal notices in the mail it always freaked me out a bit (it is my future we're dealing with after all) and the peace of mind I received through my communications with the Tormey law firm have left me feeling that it was worth every penny.
I shall certainly be using their services for the expungement of my records in about a year or so and would certainly (although I hope I don't ever have to) recommend them to anyone with trouble in New Jersey.

Case: Restraining Orders and Domestic Violence
Reviewed: Travis Tormey, Christopher Perry and Samantha
I retained the Tormey Law Firm, after consulting with three other law firms, to represent me. I spoke with Travis Tormey on the phone, and within 3 hours, I was sitting across him explaining my case. Before I met Travis, I was a complete nervous wreck and post our initial meeting, I walked out feeling confident and secure. Such is the Confidence, Persona and Expertise that Travis exhibits. Travis not only defended me against a restraining order but also fought to obtain a restraining order in my favor to protect me from further violent attacks. The outcome of the case was exactly what Travis predicted and I am really happy with the results and feel safe.
Travis Tormey: The level of efforts invested by Travis were amazing. He does NOT just meet you in court at the 11th hour- Instead he sits with you at his well appointed offices to prepare the case/defense, and goes into in-depth detail to ensure that he is ready and also to make sure that you feel confident and safe. If he utters this statement- That he is "LOCKED and LOADED" for your case defense, then trust me, you are in really good hands.
Travis is very punctual- He represented me in multiple hearings and he was always in court before me, completely prepared and always willing to lend a reassuring shoulder.
Inside the court room, Travis grows larger than life, is so involved and committed. One has to witness his skills, especially at the closing arguments (which he is a master off) where the passion exhibited by him is so clearly evident. His voice booms and echoes and I experienced it always hitting its mark. My case was so lengthy, complex and convoluted, but I did not see Travis ever miss a beat.
In fact, I have retained the Tormey Law form to represent me in two more cases related to the same domestic disputes (as prosecuting attorneys).
His knowledge of the law, the legal system, due processes and his experience with all levels of the judicial system (Municipal Court, Superior Court, Appellate Courts) are definitely a strong leverage on your side.
Christopher Perry: Chris is handling two appeals for me, and is such an amazing attorney. Together, Travis and Chris, are a formidable team. Both- with their larger than life personalities, their confidence and their willingness to invest in you are, in my opinion, the best legal representation you can possibly get. Chris always paints an accurate picture and has spent hours on my case. He also has extensive experience at all levels of the court system and is very patient in explaining the process, timelines and the case-work. Chris has displayed such religious diligence and integrity in my complex cases
Samantha (Office Manager)
I have saved the best for the last: Samantha is such a wonderful and considerate person and, despite the fact that I am a big Follow-Up guy, I never saw Samantha lose her patience. No matter what document, information, update I needed, Samantha has always been there to help and support. She is an excellent manager who knows all about the paperwork/documentation is always willing to help. She is very prompt in obtaining affidavits, certifications and dispositions. She really knows her way around the legal system.
Long review, but I strongly feel that Travis has an amazing team and exceptional skills and other should benefit from this just as I did. I dd not know anything about the legal system earlier and was thoroughly intimidated by my circumstances before meeting Travis and his team. Today I am confident and feel I have found great attorneys and have no cause to worry.
I do not wish legal troubles on anyone, but if you are unfortunately caught in a vortex, then reach out to the Tormey Law Firm. I wasn't disappointed and neither will you be! God Bless!!!

Mr. Tormey is an outstanding attorney who was willing to take on a small case with huge implications for a woman looking to adopt a service dog. I was truly impressed by his kindness, determination and responsiveness. He took care of business immediately and obtained a very positive outcome for his client and my organization. We will forever be grateful.

Mr. Tormey is a great attorney and very knowledgeable not only with the entire array of municipal court statutes processes and procedures but also superior court matters. You can rely on Travis to find the most effective method of disposing of your matter without the hidden or additional penalties. Travis was very well known and respected in the municipal courts where he represented me and it made a difference as the prosecutor and Judge acknowledged him and were more then willing to work out the best results for me. Travis will give it to you straight and completely explain how the procedure will go, as he fights your case aggressively. Great Attorney

Mr. Tormey knows law. What worked with my family was that he was responsive. When I needed to speak with him (asap) he was there. This included weekends and adhoc times during the work week. I will highly recommend him to anyone.

When my son was arrested for distribution of marijuana and MDMA, our world was a nightmare and we were scared. When we met Travis he reassured us that my son would be okay. When it came time for court we thought that our son was going to be on probation, or even worse, however, Travis was able to get my sons case dismissed. "Exactly what we wanted!" Thank you Travis for all your help. I also would like to thank Samantha she was very helpful. I would highly recommend the Tormey law firm they were excellent!

When my back was against the wall and all hope seemed lost, Travis Tormey did what was needed to keep me out of jail and help me avoid a criminal record.
I was charged with stalking and harassment in New Jersey, with the very real possibility that I could be sent to jail. Travis Tormey handled my case from start to finish. He obtained crucial evidence, including phone records and police reports. He also kept me informed of major developments in my case so that I would be prepared for trial. Thankfully, when the time came for trial, Travis was able to convince the prosecutor to downgrade the criminal charges to a municipal ordinance, which is basically like a traffic ticket or a noise violation.
I stayed out of jail and I maintained a clean record because of Travis Tormey.

My spouse whom I was about to divorce charged me with simple assault. I initially did not get an attorney because I maintained my innocence of assaulting my wife. Looking back I felt as though the courts, and police were not all that interested in getting down to the truth of the matter when it comes down to "domestic violence" cases, as a result I had a Final restraining order against me from a New Jersey Court.
Afterwards, I did retain an attorney with the Tormey Law Firm. I had the same experience as another Poster, Ray M. Paying cash up front, and then case was handed off to an "Associate Attorney". They took my case and money, heard nothing from them for 2 weeks. They were essentially waiting on this report from the courts with police reports and other details of my case.
The lawyers essentially expected my wife to drop the charges, telling me to sit tight and wait. Well, as the court date draws near, wife shows no sign of wiling to drop charges, I continued to maintain my innocence, and even volunteered to take lie detector test in front of the courts. Unfortunately, according to the lawyer, Municipal courts do not do Lie Detector tests. On court date lawyer keeps making excuses of why prosecutor did not suggest alternative options to my wife, in the end my lawyer keeps telling me we don't have much of a case, and suggested I plead guilty and just pay the fine to avoid "Possible Jail" time.
All the scrambling that I've done to put together evidence package to maintain my innocence was for naught.
Another thing is during the 2 weeks this Law Firm sat on my case, I had an opportunity to repeal the Final Restraining Order, this option was never brought up, when I confronted the Associate Attorney about this, he got defensive.
So basically, the client does all the scrambling, lawyer does as little as possible, and collects fees. Courts, lawyers and police all look at these cases as a job, they want to resolve cases as quickly as possible, collect the fines, fees, etc... Getting the truth is never their priority.
