One of the best!!

Back in May of 2016 I was pulled over for driving over the speed limit and was arrested for a DUI the morning after the previous night of consuming alcohol. I was charged with another DUI a little over 9 years prior and I was in serious trouble. A second DUI in a span of ten years is considered a f...elony and can land you in prison for some time. Knowing this I started to consider how much time I spent in school, a career, and my family and all my efforts were going to be in vein. I was devastated and started thinking of how was I going to survive in jail and live in this country as a felon. After about 2 weeks of searching endlessly for a good DUI lawyer the universe smiled at me and I found Mr. Spector on AVVO. After reading all his reviews and after the initial consultation i decided to hire him. He is honest (brutally) and he goes to work for you like no other. Before our first court date Mr spector called to inform me that the prosecutor was offering a 1 year jail sentence as a plea and I went into shock. For the next five months he did some serious negotiating with the prosecutor and kept me in the loop every step of the way. Long story short by the second and final court date in November he established a way to keep me out of jail and no felony on my record. You know your lawyer is at the top of his game when even the judge was shocked by the deal he struck with the prosecutor. The judge literally looked at me and said that today you got a gift. This experience has humbled me and I am so grateful that I found him. Thank you Mr. Spector for the work you have done by getting me the best deal possible and your highly recommended by me to anyone who needs a top notch DUI lawyer.

Good job

Carl provided quality service for a competitive price. I'm an out of town'r so it would have been a headache for me to continuously come back and forth to deal with the case. Eventually it was thrown out but he did his best to minimize my trips to NYC. He always presented all the options and allowed ...me to choose. I would recommend him.

Speeding Ticket

He tried to get me a deal that was too good to be true but it back fired as the judge wouldn't allow it. He did do his best but when the judge says no, what you going to do. So, I did get zero point deal but paid the normal amount any other person would. Overall satisfied.

USELESS IN MY DUI CSAE!

I've hired Mr. Spector to handle my DUI case. It was a waste of money! do not let yourself to be pulled , he "cannot negotiate those kind of cases in NJ due to the stricter laws after 2019 "!!! His own words AFTER I've had to take a full guilty plea !

Ruslan I am sorry that you feel this way and would have hoped that you would have spoken to me privately instead of on this public forum. If you wish to discuss this further with me please feel free to contact me. Ruslan and I did work together on his DUI case. We did discuss expectations of possible outcomes many times during my representation. In no way did I say or imply that I could negotiate away the DUI/Refusal charges but instead work through the police materials with Ruslan to try to negotiate with the prosecutor dismissing either the DUI or Refusal charge if Ruslan would plea to one or the other. From the first phone call with Ruslan to the in person meetings in my office together I communicated clearly that having an expectation of having a DUI and or Refusal charge in New Jersey dismissed is not a reasonable expectation but that we would do the work and request and review the evidence before making any decisions to plea or go to trial on all the charges. I requested, received and reviewed the evidence from the police department. The police body worn camera videos, the police car dash cam video of the encounter as well as all the police reports were reviewed with Ruslan together in my office in person. I also provided all the materials received from the police to Ruslan for his records. We met in person in my office and reviewed and discussed several times the videos and the police reports in support of the case. Ruslan and I did discuss the possibility of negotiating with the prosecutor to drop the Refusal to take a breath test ticket in lieu of a plea to the DWI or visa versa. However, while in court the prosecutor would not agree to that based upon the strength of the evidence the State had against Ruslan regarding the Refusal and the DUI. In the end Ruslan decided, with my consultation that I would negotiate with the prosecutor the minimum penalties on both the DUI and Refusal and to have the period of installation of the ignition interlock to run together instead of on top of each other for both the DUI and the Refusal as well as having the IDRC class time run together instead of risking a trial and being punished more harshly if we had a trial and was convicted of both the DUI and the refusal. Please note that the police body worn camera video of the encounter Ruslan had with the police was impossible to ignore and would be used as evidence against him if he would have gone to trial.

Horrible.

I came across Carl Spector on this site- given his ratings, I gave him a call. He was friendly on the phone- but do not be fooled. Upon meeting him, he told me that he couldn't go in court himself due to some technicality, so he had a co-attourney, Michael Baer, to work with him. Both were very nice ...upfront. They charged more than other lawyers I had received a quote from, and they insisted this was because of all the things that had to be done- (later I realized it's because they double-teamed,which was unnecessary- turns out, Spector CAN go to the courts). Baer came to all the court dates, until the LAST that mattered, where Spector came in- and didn't know WHAT was going on. I ended up with a WORSE bargain than I was offered the last time with Baer. They said they had lots of experience and could get the job done. They definitely did not. Long story short, both of these guys, especially Spector (one pulling all the strings) turned out to be, in my opinion, money hungry grimy lawyers. I went with these guys because I thought they were nice guys, and was willing to spend a little more. First, they couldn't come up with tactics on their own. I was definitely better read than them, and came up with all the "out of the box" thinking. Second, they ended up doing nothing more than any other of the lawyers said they could do. They quoted me a higher fee saying there was another way, which turned out to be false- after spending my own money to pull up old records. They charged thousands more for this- when meeting with them, I realized they didn't even spend the time to go over the documents. I had to read the documents aloud upon our meeting, and provide all the suggested routes. At the end, they were just concerned about receiving the money. Once they received the money, they didn't even finish the job. They said they would follow up to see what my results were, and how to go about dealing with it, and they never did. When I call, they say, "just wait". Who knows if there is a warrant out for my arrest due to their poor advising and lack of care. SUMMARY: AVOID. There are WAY smarter, and more affordable lawyers out there.

And both myself and Mr. Baer are disappointed why this client is now taking the opportunity to express his dissatisfaction after being pleased at the result initially.
