About Anne

Learn Anne’s areas of practice.

Practice areas
  1. Education
We represent families who have children receiving special education or section 504 services.

  2. Discrimination
We represent adults with significant disabilities who are being discriminated against at work, college, or in the community. We also represent members of the LGBTQ community in discrimination matters.

My mission is to zealously advocate for students with disabilities, focusing on appropriate education in the least restrictive environment (LRE). I also vow to end discrimination against individuals with disabilities and individuals with the label of LGBTQ. Recently I have accepted Title IX cases on behalf of students who face gender discrimination.

Prior to running a law practice, I was a social worker, working to get adults with disabilities successfully situated in the community during the era of closing institutions. I was privileged to work closely with various ARC organizations.

My daughter with Down syndrome was fully and successfully included in the local schools. Yep, she even took Algebra!

Since I cannot help every family that reaches out to me, my best advice is pubished in my latest book, "Do Not Tweet at an IEP Meeting …and other tips and strategies to negotiate special education services." Check  for more info or find it on Amazon.

Anne Improved our daughter's education which resulted in a drastic improvement in her overall quality of life!
I hired Anne Tremanis and she has changed my daughter's life for the better. She was able to make meaningful changes on her IEP which improved her quality of education and drastically improved her quality of life substantially, and for that I am very grateful to her. She spent countless hours offering advice and tips. Her integrity and compassion as well her passion for advocating for the most vulnerable population is clear from the second you meet her. Anne Treimanis is also an accomplished author. She published IEP and Inclusion Tips and has been a reviewer for Wrightslaw, published or edited chapters of books, and written various law review and other professional articles about special education topics. She is a frequent speaker at both national and local conferences for various disabilities and serves on various committees and workgroups related to disabilities. What I like most about Anne is her sound ethical advise. Thanks to Anne my daughter is making tremendous gains and benefiting from her education. Excellent attorney, highly recommend!

Anne Treimanis
Anne has been a fantastic resource for my family and a tireless fighter for children with special needs and their families. I have used her services for two of my children and I highly recommend her. She works collaboratively with families, schools, and school districts. She is very professional but also very compassionate. Anne has helped us through some difficult times and ensured that my children received the most appropriate services. She is very well regarded in the special education community and frequently gives her time and expertise to teach parents (and schools) how to work together.

The QUEEN of Special Education Law!
Anne Treimanis is the QUEEN of Special Education Law! I have used Anne services directly for my son on the autism spectrum and as a Child Advocate; I have referred my cases to her when an attorney was needed. Anne has also represented “Stamford Education 4 Autism”, a local non-profit organization of which I am president. Anne approaches every case with the highest level of professionalism. She will effectively represent your child as if it is her own. She understands that it’s a stressful time in your life: she will help ease your uncertainties and explain your case to you in a very simple, respectful and understanding way. She will educate you first on your rights, then educate your team…. those whom you are fighting with. Your child will be well represented and when she enters a meeting, everyone listens! She holds districts accountable for doing what is right for your child and your child wins! One would think having Anne, with such high qualifications, as their attorney would be expensive…not true! Anne will not take financial advantage of you. Her rates are extremely reasonable for her services and when she commits to your case, you can breathe a sign of fresh air. I can’t stress enough how she is invaluable to me. There is no other special education attorney that I would use….she is the Queen of Special Education Law and we all deserve the royal treatment for our children and to give the royal treatment to our districts that violate our children’s rights! Thank you, Attorney Anne Treimanis…. for dedicating your life to the rights of all individuals with special needs. You are truly amazing!

Number 1 in our book
Anne has been helping me and my daughter for 3 1/2 years. I was told by several different people to contact a lawyer. I found Anne the end of 8th grade. My daughter is now a junior. Anne was able to get an intense program. That brought my daughters reading level up to 5 years in only 6 months time. Anne is still working on our case. Our reading mission is almost over and math will be our next step. It takes a little bit of time but when you have someone who believes in your child as much as you do. The fight is well worth it. I thank god every day for her. Anne is number 1 with my daughter and myself.

After a very long struggle to get the benefits of my son and a hard-line opposition by the Local Board of Education, we have gained the benefits and assistance that my son needed. During all this time my wife and I tried with several lawyers as well as with educational advocates, our experience was very unpleasant to find that all of them charged so outrageous, without no results and only for reading e mails, one of the lawyers charging me more $ 1000.00 just to read messages that were necessary for him to defend my son case. In the area of education the abuse of the lawyers is very clear and the Board of various districts have parents who can not meet the expenses which means defending the rights of our children is impossible and they count on that to not give the kids what is their rights under the federal laws . Anne I Treimanis has been the ONLY one to show compassion, professionalism, knowledge and efficiency and because of that she got a well-deserved victory in our case

Anne Treimanis is your go-to person for inclusion and a lot more
Talk about accessible, knowledgeable, and effective. Anne Treimanis has been there, professionally and personally, making it happen for students with disabilities participate in their school and local communities. Attorney Treimanis has many strengths, but Anne's people skills sets her apart. She has a way of finding a way forward that is win-win, without leaving a lot of damage behind when a disagreement is finally resolved. Whether it is at an IEP meeting, mediation, or due process, Anne Treimanis is the attorney that schools both love and hate to see: love because she works with them and finds the reasonable common ground; hate because when they see her, they know that change is coming. Anne helped me, helped my friends, and could possibly help you. If she can't -- she'll tell you.
