    Tanya’s Answer

We have strict laws on the books regarding paying employees (he isn't going to file bankruptcy to avoid paying you, its just not that easy to do) although you might technically be classified as an independent contractor. What you really have is a collection action on a debt- this happens quite a bit in construction.

    Tanya’s Answer

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Although difficult, try to be patient, you don't want to accept a low offer, and insurance companies can wait you out. That being said, 6 months seems like a long time. It could be that the claim has moved around from adjuster to adjuster and has gotten lost in the shuffle. Ask your attorney to keep on top of it, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

These expert opinions are designed to enhance your recovery by giving opinions regarding causation of your injuries and damages. Have a sit down with your attorney and have him/her explain exactly what he hopes to gain from this expenditure. If you are uncomfortable, seek a second opinion, bring a copy of your file with you.

  • How long does it take for the Insurance company to Start the process of the claim?

I have already submitted the police report and I am the claimant. It has been about 11 days since the day of the accident but they say that they couldn't still contact their insured and that they are not saying that it is his fault. Would getting ...

    Tanya’s Answer

It probably will not speed up the process. Even though police reports often indicate fault, the insurance companies are not bound by that liability call. They will want to speak with their insured to get their side of the story. 11 days is not a long time. If it slides to 30, however, that could be a sign that they cannot get a hold of their insured, or he/she is otherwise not cooperating with their own insurance company. Just stay on it, squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say.

There are a relatively few number of firms in CT that can handle something like this. I would first call StrattonFaxon out of New Haven and have them evaluate your case.
