I am a former active duty United States Marine and in 2011, I took those "Corps" values and started the Law Offices of Patrick G. Hughes, LLC, where my practice areas consist of personal injury, criminal defense, family law, and residential and commercial real estate transactions. I earned a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, in Political Science from Southern Connecticut State University and my juris doctor from the University of Connecticut. During law school, I was an executive board member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board and an active member of the Student Trial Lawyers’ Association. I am an active member of the New Haven County Bar Association, and I currently serve as Vice President for the New Haven Young Lawyers Section.  In 2010, and again in 2011,  I was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers–Rising Stars Edition.

As I previously mentioned, prior to attending college, I served five years on active duty as an intelligence analyst in the United States Marine Corps, deploying in support of missions conducted over the Former Republic of Yugoslavia and the Republic of Korea.

I reside in Wallingford, Connecticut with my wife Allison Hughes, a real estate agent with William Raveis in Cheshire, our little girl Finley Georgia Hughes, and our two beagles.

I served my country in the Marine Corps, now allow me to serve you as your legal counsel.

honest lawyer
Attorney Hughes handled my fathers criminal court case and was able to negotiate a decent disposition. I then asked him to help with my case because I was getting a real bad offer with my public defender and felt as if I was just a number to them. Pat is an extremely down to earth guy. he will not lie to you and tell you something that may not happen. He was more than willing to work with my payments as my finances are awful at the moment. Pat will not promise you something unless it is a one hundred percent guarantee. I love having an honest, caring, ccompassionate attorney in my corner!

My lawyer is better than your lawyer
I had wrote a review on Patrick that was so great. I’m currently in the process of having it removed. Ya see, I have been going through a rough time in my life. I was charged with things that weren’t true. Well Patrick had read my review and instead of taking it personally. He took it as a challenge to do better and instead of being a lawyer, he opened up as a friend and really made me and my family feel comfortable. When the stuff hits the fan, you’re gonna want someone who will help you feel at ease. Not only does this man excel at law. He is a wonderful human! You’re lawyer may be good but my lawyer does more. If you don’t contact Patrick first. You’re gonna end up last.

Highly recommended!!
I was recommended to Pat last summer and I'm so glad I was. I have a criminal case due to the negligence of another attorney. Pat took on this new case and has literally gone above and beyond for me. Pat takes pride in everything does; he is a very good attorney, believe me when I say he knows what he's doing. He has worked very hard for me and has been there for me through out this whole process, every single step of the way. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of an attorney. :)

Great Service
Received great service from Patrick Hughes for a traffic court issue. Seems to truly want to be the helpful servant to his customers, rather than the prototypical too-busy high-priced expert attorney. Highly recommend him to others.

amazing, interpersonal, flexible
My sister had an issue with the law, Attorney Hugues, was highly recommended by the family attorney. at the instant I explained the situation, he advised me what to expect, he never failed to return calls, and he deals with you himself, his personality towards people is amazing, when we went to court he had 2 more cases made sure he took care of them 1 at the time and spend time with each one of us, I cannot express how professional he was, and hof thankful I am that I was advised to choose him to represent my sister.

Fantastic Attorney
I have had Mr. Hughes represent me for real estate business, he has negotiated contracts for me, and i have referred him to some friends for criminal cases. He is very attentive to details and takes the time to walk people through the process. I trust him implicitly and my friends say the same. Other then for business, I hope to never need an attorney, but if I do.....Patrick Hughes is my first choice!

Helpful, responsible and highly recommended!
I talked to more then 5 criminal defense lawyers in New Haven, CT and Pat is the one I chose in the end to represent my wife. We are so glad we made the right choice! He was most helpful, and certainly knowledgable with how things should work out. He not only got a Nolle for my wife's case (so the charges are dropped), but also successfully obtained a complete dismissal on the court date (it usually takes 13 months for the charges to be dismissed after a Nolle). Further more, Pat quoted the most reasonable flat fee (he quoted $500 while all the other attorneys quoted from $1,000 to $1,500). I would definitely recommend him to anyone seeking legal assistance!

Outstanding Lawyer
Overall awesome lawyer. He's very busy and he took on my case dealing with custody of my son. He is personable, professional, listens, and is well educated and knowledgeable. He always asked for my input before making any decisions in court. He has yet to let me down and he's driven all the way to Saybrook 3 times already to deal with my case. He's very flexible with payments. Completely understanding and compassionate to my situation. I have an will continue to recommend him!

A Helpful and Honest
I needed help for a misdemeanor case, Mr. Hughes immediately set up a consultation appointment with me. He seemed to be very busy, which is a good sign for a lawyer. My main concern is to minimize the negative effects my misdemeanor has on my future employ-ability. During the appointment he patiently listened to me and gathered all the relevant information pertaining to my case. He is an excellent listener and understood me from the start. He is also a good communicator, leaving me feeling very well informed with the knowledge of what is likely to happen, and what is not likely to happen. Later on, he informs me that for my particular case, it is possible for me to go to court without an attorney. He nevertheless gave me his business card telling me if I feel like I need him to represent me after my experience in court, he'd be there to help.

Professional In Every Aspect
Recently I needed an Attorney for an issue that Mr. Hughes made seem smaller. His professional advice and listening manner is outstanding, Never once did he talk over me or talk above me. He kept me well informed along the way and made me feel at ease every step and cleared up the matter with his negotiating skills in a short spell. He will definately be my lawyer for all my legal needs from now on. I found him quite impressive, friendly, a listener, and all the while.....Professional. I highly recommend him!

More than just a lawyer
Patrick put forth great effort and diligence to be prepared for every situation which sprang up. He was extremely patient throughout the entire process, and showed an unbelievable understanding for how I was feeling. I was not the easiest client to work with; the care and respect shown to me by Patrick, especially when I was at my lowest, was nothing short of honorable. I would recommend Patrick to anyone seeking services, and compassion as well.

no integrity
I sent my legal documents as agreed upon in our initial conversation to Mr Hughes. This was 6 months ago. He was to review the case before accepting to represent me, I thought by doing this he would know his own capabilities and make his own judgement on whether to accept it or not. Well I am still waiting. After numerous calls, faxes and emails he still has not made any contact nor has he returned my legal documents. I am not impressed. An email stating he was not able to take it on and the return of my documents would be appreciated. As an ex military family and reading he was a Marine .... I expected honour and trust .... there is none!!
