My practice focuses on helping clients resolve disputed family matters in the district and probate courts of York and Cumberland County. I offer counsel to both married and unmarried parties, as well as to non-traditional family members seeking parental rights or guardianship.
Multi-State Child Custody and Child Support Issues:
In my former position as a Child Support Enforcement Agent at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, I gained extensive experience dealing with out of state orders relating to child custody and child support. When parents reside in multiple states, the analysis to determine who has jurisdiction to modify or establish an order can be confusing and requires a careful analysis by an attorney with experience in this area.
Arguing before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court was an incredible experience that I look forward to doing again. I love family matter appellate work - having argued to undo a lower court's decision and also fighting to uphold favorable decisions issued by lower courts.
I am part of the Family Division of the American Bar Association, a member of the Family Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association, and also a member of the York Bar Association.
