Thank you Attorney Howie for assisting me during my legal troubles and winning the case in my favor. During our trial, I always knew what was happening, whether good or bad, and you took the time to put together a case and successfully defend me in a court of law. I am forever grateful!

I was fortunate to find Nick Howie after dismissing 2 lawyers who didn't have the knowledge to help me in a major dui case. After coming to see me in jail and reassuring me he had the smarts to help me I hired him on the spot. He meant everything he said and helped me tremendously throughout my case.
I would suggest him to anyone. Thank you Nick.

I came to Nick after I had been arrested for OUI at the age of 20. I was arrested in the summer of 2015 and was set to deploy overseas within 3 months. I had no idea what to think of my situation. I had refused both a field sobriety test as well as the breathalyzer. I first contacted Nick because of the great reviews he had online. His expertise in the law and also his familiarity with each judge helped win my case. We ended up going with a bench trial based on his knowledge of how the judge may be with certain cases.
Nick was also helpful in staying in contact with me about my case even when I was overseas. I was arrested in the summer of 2015 and received a not guilty verdict January of 2016. Safe to safe I got my moneys worth. I was given no extra fees even though my case had taken so long to resolve. Nick was flexible in how i payed him.
All in all, Nick was hardworking and his experienced showed with his knowledge of the court system. I would and will recommend him to anyone in the need for a lawyer.

I got arrested at a sobriety checkpoint back in May. Long story short I passed the field sobriety test and blew a .07 on the breathalyzer test. They still arrested me for "suspicion" of OUI and brought me to court to try and prove I was over the limit when I left Fenway Park and sobered up by the time I was arrested. I didn't even realize this was something they could do. Obviously I freaked out, I have never been in any trouble before. Found Nick through my family lawyer. He talked me off the ledge. He was confident out of the gate and guided me throughout the process. Ended up with a bench trial and a not guilty verdict. Nick knew the judges and knew whether or not we should go with a jury trial or bench trial. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend him to anyone.

I began working with Nick in winter of 2015. I had consulted a number of attorneys before deciding to go with Nick. What separated him from the others was his confidence. Not that he promised me a not-guilty verdict or a painless trial process, but that he had confidence in his ability to provide me the best legal counsel possible. You’d be surprised how many [top-notch] attorney’s I spoke with that seemed to lack this confidence. This confidence was important to me. How can I put my faith and my future freedom in the hands of an attorney that doesn’t even have confidence in himself?!
I had been charged with DWI and this was my first offense. I declined the breathalyzer and was cooperative throughout my time taking the field sobriety tests and during booking. As a single mother to three, I was obviously eager to move forward with my life and anticipating a plea to reckless driving or some other lesser offense. Imagine my surprise when I received notice that I was being charged with Aggravated DWI just before my ALS hearing.
Nick too, was surprised by this. Without using radar to clock my speed the officer included this charge based on having ‘paced’ my vehicle to the inflated speed of 70mph in a 35. I was shocked but Nick remained confident that we could get through this with a not-guilty verdict. The process was long and sometimes stressful. We knew that the circuit court judge would find me guilty but believe it or not, this was part of the plan and would allow me to appeal to the Superior Court. I would have my case heard before a jury of my peers and that was very important to me. As expected, I was found guilty and appealed to Superior Court.
From beginning to end, the officer’s testimony changed from one trial to the next. Nick was sure to make this known during every opportunity he was given. He was sure to put emphasis on these inconsistencies throughout his cross-examination of the officer during each of my trials. The jurors were able to pick up on this and it definitely shook the prosecutor. My first jury trial ended in ‘mistrial’ which was certainly frustrating but better than a guilty verdict. Nick and I had decided that having me testify during this trial was not the best idea but by the time my next trial date was set and a new jury selected, we decided that my testimony might be all that is needed to get those last few jurors feeling confident in supporting a not-guilty verdict. He took the time to walk me through the testifying process and we both entered that courtroom with confidence. Nick’s examination of me and the cross-examination of the officer were both thorough and to the point. Keeping his message simple allowed the jury to process the facts without being overwhelmed by technical details that only those in the legal profession may understand. His opening and closing statements were spot-on. Reasonable doubt was all that was needed and he was able to articulate several examples of this doubt in his delivery to the jury. We were right and the jury was gone less than an hour during my second trial before returning with a not-guilty verdict.
Throughout my yearlong journey to this not-guilty verdict, Nick was responsive to my calls and emails and stayed on top of my case. Making calls to the courts and filing paperwork, I know he had my best interest in mind throughout this time. I would recommend Nick to those finding themselves in this unfortunate situation. Stay positive and move forward with the peace of mind that comes along with hiring an attorney that knows what he is doing. You have so many other issues to deal with at this point—why add to it?
I’m happy to have had Nick on my side. He listened to my concerns, he eased my fears. He’s a great attorney and a good human being. Choosing the right attorney was the most important decision I made after my arrest. I’m confident I chose the right attorney to represent me.

My step-son got into some trouble due to driving without a license. I called Nicholas Howie to try and see what he could do to help avoid a one-year loss of license ordered by the state. Mr. Howie really took the time necessary to understand our case and my step-son’s situation as a recovering addict. Mr. Howie’s price to help resolve the case was also very reasonable despite the complicated issues. At one point, due to these issues, the state was unwilling to budge on the loss of license. This was a horrifying situation as my step-son was finally making progress against his addiction and losing his license would not only cause him to lose his job but he would be unable to make his clinic appointments that are necessary to fight his addiction. This was a life threatening issue and the state could care less. This is when Mr. Howie got creative. Despite the harsh push back from the prosecutor and without changing his price Mr. Howie continued to negotiate over several weeks and finally, with my step-son’s approval of the terms, came to a solution that was accepted by the state. Negotiating terms aren’t always pretty but the end result was my step-son kept his license, kept his job, and continues to make his clinic appointments every day. I’m convinced that due to Mr. Howie’s experience and relentless effort not to give up, when I know at several times he could have, that my step-son now has a second chance that has likely saved his life, thanks to Mr. Howie.

The service and representation which I received from Nick Howie was outstanding! I was charged with a DUI and had never had any previous problems with the law. I can honestly say I was scared of how such a serious charge would affect my life, both personally AND professionally. My case seemed to be a tough one and I obviously thought I would receive the worst outcome possible. I found Nick online and placed a phone call to him. He called me RIGHT back and was very responsive, calmly and thoroughly walked me through what our next steps would be and scheduled to meet with me shortly after. He answered EVERY question I had and I felt some relief knowing that I had someone with experience dealing with these cases on my side. Nick developed a strategy and fortunately, I was found innocent of the DUI charges. I can’t thank him enough and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a very responsive, and highly knowledgeable attorney.
