About me

Attorney Peter Bellotti is a preeminent trial lawyer who has had a major impact in Massachusetts in the practice areas of criminal defense and personal injury.  As founder and president of Bellotti Law Group, Attorney Bellotti has been instrumental in the firm’s stellar reputation and continues to play a vital role in most cases undertaken by the firm. A distinguished and respected trial attorney, fellow lawyers often turn to Peter to try complex cases for their clients.  His inexhaustible zeal, dedication, and skill have netted his clients millions of dollars.  Attorney Bellotti is extremely well regarded by his peers, clients, and others in the legal and judicial community, as showcased by his AV Preeminent peer review rating, an honor he has held since 2000.  Often, he is immediately recommended to clients facing difficult or unique circumstances, as Attorney Bellotti embraces the challenge of a complex case and ensures the best possibility of success for his clients.  Peter has had success in front of every court in Massachusetts and consistently brings the same level of attention, detail, and skill to every case he tries, whether modest or prominent.

Attorney Bellotti began his career as a former senior assistant district attorney for Middlesex County.  As a prosecutor, he perfected his skills to become a talented and tenacious litigator who has tried hundreds of cases in the superior and district courts and presented arguments before the Appeals Court and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

As his long practice and impressive record of success shows, Attorney Bellotti is one of the Commonwealth’s foremost trial attorneys in civil and criminal litigation.  He is also a former senior assistant district attorney for Middlesex County. As a prosecutor, he perfected his skills to become a talented and tenacious litigator who has tried hundreds of cases in the superior and district courts and presented arguments before the Appeals Court and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

In 1989, Attorney Bellotti transferred his skills into private practice when he opened Bellotti Law Group (then known as Bellotti & Barretto, before Attorney James Barretto was nominated by Governor Deval Patrick and later accepted a judgship as Associate Justice of the Massachusetts District Court).  After decades of successful practice, Peter has gained unique experience, valuable insight, and a keen perspective on nearly every facet and nuance of litigation, while losing none of the enthusiasm, diligence, and meticulousness he possessed as a younger attorney.  Peter built Bellotti Law Group on the promise of being client focused and results driven.  He has never strayed from that belief and practices law daily with those ideals in mind.

In his practice, Attorney Bellotti is an industry leader in the area of personal injury. He is a resolute and successful plaintiff’s counsel, who will relentlessly pursue his client’s best interests. Attorney Bellotti has more than 15 years experience with personal injury cases and cases that involve catastrophic injuries. Attorney Bellotti has an excellent reputation and credibility with insurance companies who know he is willing to take a case to trial on behalf of his client. Attorney Bellotti always considers the best needs of his clients when making decisions or recommendations and his superior negotiation skills at mediations have yielded seven and six figure settlements on behalf his personal injury clients.  Peter’s reputation often leads to favorable settlements for his clients, but when his client’s interests are not maximized, he is prepared to bring sharp, knowledgeable, and thorough litigation on behalf of his client.

Attorney Bellotti remains active in the legal and academic community and has a wide range of experience as an attorney for the Public Protection Bureau and the Medical Malpractice Tribunal and as a mediator for the Middlesex Superior Court. For the past ten years, he has been an adjunct professor of Constitutional Law at Curry College in the Department of Government and History.  He is also a keynote speaker and lecturer on various topics of law, namely Constitutional issues, whose speaking engagements has been enjoyed by thousands in attendance and in syndication.

Attorney Peter Bellotti’s legal prowess is appreciated in Massachusetts and on the national stage, as he is a sought after legal analyst and has appeared on WB-56 television network in Boston, and has appeared on several national news programs, including Good Morning America, Catherine Crier, FOX News, and CNN’s Nancy Grace. He also makes regular radio appearances as a legal analyst on WBZ’s Paul Sullivan Show.

Attorney Bellotti is a life-long resident of Massachusetts and lives on the North Shore with his wife and his three sons. He is actively involved in his community and is a youth basketball coach.

When I think of the ideal personal-injury (and wrongful-death) lawyer, I think of someone who thoroughly investigates and prepares his cases, someone who is a smart and tough negotiator, someone who ultimately combines a common-sense approach with a disarming sense of humor, and someone who backs it all up with polished trial skills. That is Attorney Peter Bellotti. There is no other lawyer I know who consistently achieves such top settlements and/or verdicts for his clients. Peter is respected across the board by insurance adjusters, defense attorneys, judges . . . and most of all, his grateful clients. He has earned a terrific reputation as one of the best lawyers in Massachusetts as a result of consistently doing things the right way during his 24 years of excellent work. I'm thrilled to be able to refer clients to him.
