Daniel S. Perlman previously served as the case law attorney for Massachusetts Advocates for Children (MAC), one of the first educational advocacy organizations for children in the nation. He has represented and counseled families of children with special needs from across the state. He is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and the University of Massachusetts, where he graduated magna cum laude.
In 2015, and again in 2016, Mr. Perlman was selected as a Rising Star among attorneys in Massachusetts by Super Lawyers. He is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), the Special Needs Advocacy Network (SPAN), and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Perlman developed and manages Special Education Law (specialedlaw.com) a free resource for parents, advocates, and attorneys in Massachusetts. Mr. Perlman frequently presents on special education and school discipline law at professional conferences and workshops, and to SEPACs, nonprofits, and other organizations.
Mr. Perlman has committed his entire legal career to helping families who have children with special needs. As a special education attorney, he helps ensure that children with special needs receive the services and support they are entitled to under law. He routinely represents and advises families on all aspects of special education disputes including the team process (evaluations, eligibility, IEP development, program and placement disputes), school discipline, mediation, unilateral and out-of-district placements, litigation at the Bureau of Special Education Appeals, and settlement negotiation.
Mr. Perlman lives in Acton with his wife and two children.

Dan has done a tremendous service for all special education attorneys in Massachusetts by creating a complete and searchable database of decisions issued by the Bureau of Special Education Appeals. This is extremely useful for those of us who practice special education law.
