  • How do I get the charges dropped in a domestic violence case ?

    Anjali’s Answer

Are you talking to your attorney about this? There are ways to expedite this process so your case is handled appropriately. If you are looking for private counsel, let me know -- I practice in Fresno and have tons of recommendations.

  • Will teen court case show up on NCIC FBI background check?

    Anjali’s Answer

You should hire a lawyer to get it sealed if you were a juvenile at the time. WIC 786 provides for that relief.

  • I haven't been to a preliminary hearing in two years is that good or bad please help??

    Anjali’s Answer

So, juvenile cases don't have preliminary hearing - this is an adult case. And did you say Jan 2000? That's 21 years. But per your statement, 2 years is rather long for that charge. That timeframe is usually for homicides or very serious sex cases.

Get an attorney ASAP to figure out how best to handle the warrant situation. Warrants do not expire unless recalled by law enforcement or the Courts,

  • Criminal law?

    Anjali’s Answer

You can be charged with attempted murder (might be a stretch based on the facts), but definetely PC 245(a)(1) w/GBI enhancement. These are strikes and could carry prison time.

  • I was falsely accused of battery by my mom but was cited with a Felony and notice to appear. How can I get this dismissed?

    Anjali’s Answer

I cannot emphasize this enough: hire a lawyer now. If you hire a lawyer now, they can work with you to try and get this case not filed before your next court date or investigated so the DA is unprepared. This is especially true in Fresno County. I have done that on a number of occasions and have either prevented a filing entirely or gotten the case dismissed early on. Good luck!

  • What are my rights if my appearance date has the incorrect year? Do I need to appear?

    Anjali’s Answer

You need to appear. I believe any Judge would believe the mistake to be obvious. If you do not show up, a warrant will likely issue.
