  • Ssi and ssdi can you get both?

    R.’s Answer

It is rare, but possible, to qualify for both programs. One is income based and one is not. If one's monthly SSDI benefit is low, the SSI may be necessary to supplement the low SSD amount..

  • Resubmitted question with more details. How can I get disability that I need?

    R.’s Answer

In terns of Social Security Disability, I encourage people who have previously been denied to persist and appeal at least to the Administrative Law Judge level before giving up. Of course hiring a lawyer to assist is helpful because they may have dealt with the type of case you have many times before.

  • Social Security Disability backpay question?

    R.’s Answer

This sounds like you can expect it very soon. Do you have a lawyer who was helping you? They may know the local practices best. If not, the local Social Security Office may be your next call. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

  • I'm in a horrible financial situation and homeless waiting on disability?

    R.’s Answer

Your lawyer may want you to put something in writing indicating your financial situation. We do this a lot for clients.

  • Can I sue Social Security Administration?

    R.’s Answer

SSA may be willing to waive even part of the overpayment. Asking for the advice from a local attorney who has experience with overpayments is a good idea. Not everyone handles them.

  • Benemies being delayed?

    R.’s Answer

If you save copies of the letters your doctor is sending to your carrier, it may help. I know it's not easy when the checks stop coming in. But you want to be able to prove that your doctor gave the opinion and when it was sent to the carrier.

  • Receiving retirement benefits, want SSD?

    R.’s Answer

You may not have put this in your question, but you may be asking if you can get a second check. You cannot. Either you get a retirement check or a disability check. Perhaps that's not what you were thinking, but just in case you were.

  • Social Security Disability Income

    R.’s Answer

You may be able to contact the local office to determine if you're eligible. Not all intake workers at Social Security are experienced and helpful, but many are. If you don not currently work due to your disability, you may be told what you're eligible to draw and your date last insured.

  • When you sign a retainer with an attorney do the need to notify Social Security immediately or within a certain amount of time?

    R.’s Answer

Our firms submits it immediately. But just because we submit something does not mean Social Security doesn't mean they input the information into the computer right away. Frequently I submit the Appointment of Representative (1696) and Fee Agreements numerous times before it is put into their computer system. Frustrating for everyone!
