  • What are my options when my ex suddenly threatens me with a custody battle after 13 years?

    Michael’s Answer

If there isn’t a custody order in place, that might be the best place to start. Private termination of parental rights is an option, but it can be very expensive because you need to hire a second lawyer to represent the child’s interests in court as guardian ad litem.

  • What can I do if a county attorney will not return my call? I need to try to discuss a deal before trial.

    Michael’s Answer

Have you emailed him? If this is a serious misdemeanor or higher level offense, the county attorney’s office takes the position that the offer written in the minutes of testimony is the best offer you will receive. If you want a different deal, you really should have counsel.

  • Is due diligence required for service of a Petition for Dissolution by publication?

    Michael’s Answer

You're trying to practice law in Iowa without a license. I doubt you have one in Arizona because this is pretty uniform across the United States. Any first year law student could answer this question: it depends on specific facts of the case, and you need court approval.
