  • Is it better to do a bankruptcy with a lawyer or by yourself

    Julie’s Answer

Personally, as a bankruptcy attorney, I see many individuals file for bankruptcy without an attorney. A few of these people know how to fill out the forms and provide all the documentation to the trustee. Most people though do not know how to fill out the forms and are unaware that they have to turnover multiple documents to the trustee before the 341 Meeting. In those cases, the trustee will dismiss the case immediately if the debtors have not complied with the turnover order. So my best advice would be to hire an experienced attorney and not just the cheapest attorney to handle the filing of the petition from start to finish. Having a respected attorney represent you through this complicated process is well worth it! Good Luck!
