  • I closed my business in February of 2008. It was a LLC which has not been dissolved. The business owed 5,000 in sales tax in OH

    David's answer is the correct analysis. You need to double check with Ohio. For most states, the sales tax you collect is not your money, it is the State's. The sales tax is paid by the customer and you are acting soley as a collection agent. As such, if you had responsiblity for spending money, you would be treated as a responsible party and personally liable.
