I think Mr. Oberholtzer meant to say "there is NO implication that your Wills are not valid simply because they were created a long time ago", ie old wills general stay valid. But, as he points out, a review every 5 years is wise. It is unlikely that the recent changes in the law, including the trust law, will invalidate an older will or trust. The biggest change in recent years was the Oregon finally adopted the Uniform Trust Code which as a standardized set of rules for trusts that different States in the US are adopting to make the treatment more uniform from State to State. Most of the rules are common sense and protect the beneficiaries when the Trust doesn't expressly say how something should be handled. I agree with Mr. Oberholtzer that anyone with an estate over 1 million should be more cautious and get their estate plan updated on a regular basis.
