Every day, people conduct thousands of searches on Avvo, looking for help with their legal issues and concerns. So how do you get in front of these potential clients? Answer questions in our Q&A forums, publish helpful and informative guides on topics of your choice, and evaluate the contributions of your peers. The more active you are in the Avvo community, the more connections you make with people who need your services. (Please note that your Contributor level has no effect on your Avvo Rating.)
There are 20 Contributor levels. Lawyers earn points to progress to higher levels by interacting with the Avvo community, and by using Avvo as a platform to demonstrate their expertise to the public at large. Click on the graph at right to see the points required for each Avvo Contributor level.
There are now three different types of points—Contribution, Quality, and Showcase—reflecting the different aspects of your participation on Avvo. All count equally toward your overall Contributor level status.
Answering questions in our Q&A forums and writing helpful guides to assist other Avvo users are great ways to earn points. You will also receive Contribution points when you agree with—and comment on—other lawyers’ answers.
In an effort to encourage and emphasize high quality content, we are now awarding Quality points when other Avvo users acknowledge that your answers and guides were especially helpful. (This means you can literally earn points while you sleep!)
Please send your name, contact information, and the topic/practice area you would like to discuss to events@avvo.com.
All the points you receive on Avvo, whether they are Contribution, Quality, or Showcase, contribute to your overall Contributor score, and that overall score determines your rank on the Leaderboard.
In order to help ensure that Legal Guides are truly helpful and meaningful to the Avvo community, we have shifted the points available to better reflect the quality of those guides. Writing a guide is now worth 15 Contribution points, and you will receive Quality points when others vote your guide as helpful, or share it via Facebook or Twitter. Having it selected as a staff pick adds an additional 40 Quality points to your overall Contributor level score.
Not all guides are created equal. When we come across one that we feel is especially helpful to users (i.e., well written, particularly relevant, and original), we designate it a Staff Pick. Each Staff Pick adds 40 points to your Contributor level score.
Please note that all decisions as to how and whether points are to be awarded are determined by Avvo in its sole discretion. Avvo reserves the right to remove or adjust points awarded to anyone and to modify or discontinue the point system at any time in its sole discretion with or without notice.
