Received a letter from Palmer, Reifler & Associates stating they represent Safeway concerning a civil claim in connection with an incident on 01/29/09. I do not know what a Safeway is an there has not been any incident. Based on other posting, there has not been any shop lifting taken place. 300.00 will resolve the issue is this a scam?

My husband has a house which was bought before we were married and we currently rent. It is about $100,000 under water. He wants to file bankruptcy.

We also have another house (primary residence) which we bought after we married.

Will his filing of bankruptcy affect this primary residence or even my separate property?

My ex husband ot into my accounts to retaliat for being sued for child support, what can i do?

I am in the process of obtaining child support from my ex husband. Because of this, he has retaliated. I recently found that my phone contacts were deleted, i thought maybe my carrier was having some tech issues but they werent, then i recieved a text saying "b****" from my own mobile number. Day later i recieved a text message notifying me that my new email password was now set up but i never changed it. He's the only one that know what to possibly enter to get into my account and apparently he got into my online account and did his dirty work from there. My question is, what kind of suit can i file against him once i prove he is the person doing this? I already filed a police report but we live in different states and i dont think thats going to do much but its paper trail once i prove

Gifting and federal estate exemption question

I have two questions:

I heard that there is a $13k gift limit per year. I also head that if you gift more than that, you have to file some IRS form and the gift over that amount, affects the federal estate exemption.

So, let's say I gifted $500,000 in 2002 and filed the IRS form. Then I die in 2009.

1. Does that mean, since the federal estate exemption is 3.5 million, it is now 3 million because of my 500k gift in 2002?

2. Am I correct to assume that it's the person that gives the gift is the one that will be affected by the federal exemption when he dies? So, if I gift $500,000 to my niece, she has no issues with federal exemption when she dies related to this specific gift?

Sorry if it's not making sense. I'm a little confused.

State street bank did not look out for GM employees and their GM common stock fund in their 401ks..!

State street bank was an independent fiduciary of GM employees in their 401ks, in 2006 they were HIRED BY GM to evaluate the GM common stock fund in their 401ks.....
 - In sept. of 2008 State street and GM capped the fund and said it was FULL......and in april of 2009 the employees that were still in the fund were exchanged out of the fund and notified AFTER the exchange took place... There was never an SEC filling that was made available to the public/employees until the exchange was done....!
-Why did they wait until it was 1.87 a share to exchange them out....?
- State Street Bank still had 103.5 million shares of GM common stock shares after the exchange took place... isn't that conflict of interest....?
- They also were bond holders...... isn't that conflict of interest?

My car was picked up for repairs. The car would not start it was a 1979 Lincoln. The individual got the car started and the exhaust system went bad. The cost to replace the exhaust system was more than I wanted to spend and the individual asked me if I would like to sell him the car. Before the individual met with me to pay for the car and sign any papers he was in a motorcycle accident. After he recovered he was having financial problems and told me that he would pay me when he could. After about a year I have asked the individual for the money and he always has an excuse for not paying. I asked for the car and he has not returned the car. He lives in a different county so I’m not sure where the car is. He works at the same Plant that I work, but in on medical leave. I just want

Can my fiance filed for bankruptcy without affecting me and my credit/assets?

I am engaged and my fiancee just lost a property (joint with his brother) through foreclosure. We havent "set the date" for getting married due to a few situations. We have some assets joint (bank account and 1 car. No joint credit cards. Home and another car is solely in my name as an unmarried woman.) He recently got served for an unsecured credit card debt of less than 5K and then he has his forclosure on his credit. He does work but his wages are enough to pay our mortgage (in my name) and our bills. pg&e, car insurance, etc. which some are in his, and some are in my name alone, not joint. Is this going to affect me and my credit for when we do get married? and if he does file for bankruptcy, can they take OUR joint assets? Is it necessary to close and remove all assets that are joint?

I have a 16 yr old son that has a daughter by a 16 yr old girl. Does the girls mother have any say as to when and where my son takes his daughter, She is only 9 days old and the girls mother is stating that she is legally responsible for the daughter of my son. I talked to the office of the attorney general and they stated that the grandmother has no say, that the decisions are made between the mother and father although they are minors. The problem we are having is that the other grandmother is not allowing my son to take his daughter to his house where I the mother of the boy and his grandparents are here.. Plz help...
