Allen Morris Gauper

Smart guy, but disorganized and too busy to give his best work in my case. Not a great verbal communicator, similar problems as other reviews state of failure to respond to email and phone calls, which is unprofessional in any business. Too much last minute maneuvering. Never felt like I had his full... attention.

Al Gauper guided me through a very challenging divorce where custody of my children was contested. The opposing legal team included my ex, a partner in a law firm, who manipulated his team. There was additional distracting drama. It got so out of control that at one point, I lost custody of my childr...en, and was under threat of jail if I attended school as a volunteer with my children. Al Gauper and his team remained steady, professional, supportive and they won the case when it came before a trial judge. It was a tense trial. The judge took three weeks before rendering his opinion. I am grateful and appreciative of Al Gauper's hard work, professionalism and diligence. Of course my ex filed an appeal. On appeal, Al Gauper's work was upheld. I recommend Al Gauper and his partner Marty Salinas highly.

I read the prior review of this attorney and felt compelled to write a review as well. I, too, called this attorney's office seeking representation. This attorney's office came highly recommended from several separate sources and has a reputation in the community that is unmatched. I spoke with Marty... Salina, who was very responsive and spoke with me about my case before declining representation but referring me to his partner Al. I never got to speak to Al, and I can't remember ever talking to his assistant, either; the way I remember it I believe it was the receptionist who eventually told me he could not take the case “due to caseload.” It was frustrating, but at least I got an answer. I had a very difficult and time-consuming case, and things already didn’t work out for me with another attorney. Al is a very busy attorney; this is why he is successful, but this is (I’m sure) also why he can be difficult to get ahold of. Al maintains a great reputation in the community, and I know people personally who have been fortunate enough to have been represented by his firm. Yes, it would be great if everybody at least got their 2 minutes of “I’m sorry, but I can’t take your case, please come pick up your file/call someone else,” and if not from the attorney or the assistant then at least from the receptionist. As a client in family law, I know the last thing I wanted to do was make a bunch of calls to several attorneys at once and tell everyone what they needed to know to accept representation; my time is valuable, too. So, getting an answer in a timely manner from the one office I called at a time would allow me to move on to the next name on the short list. But, from everything that I understand about this firm, everyone who becomes a client does get a fair amount of time devoted to their case. Rejection isn’t fun, but at least it’s conclusive. Sometimes, if you’re not happy, it’s time to adjust your expectations. We got ourselves into that mess; don’t expect every attorney in the book is waiting around to jump at the chance to solve all of your problems. An attorney is an advocate, and the whole presentation is dependent on relationship. If you are difficult to get along with, and if you distract people from their work by calling all the time, then you are that much more difficult to advocate for. Apologize when you and your case are frustrating. And above all, thank your advocate when they do work for you, regardless of outcome.

I've heard good things about this Lawyer and he seemed competant when I spoke to him on the phone BUT after sending him our complete file and history (at his request) neither him nor his assistant would return any of our calls - his receptionist was atleast pleasant. If, after reviewing the file he ...didn't want to take on the case he should have atleast had enough decency to tell us. Instead, he just left us hanging... I would question any Attorney who isn't professional enough to be upfront and honest.
