New Lawyer to Represent Jon Gosselin in Divorce Court

A well-known reality TV father is now being represented in a divorce settlement by a high-profile attorney.

Jon Gosselin, who gained notoriety by starring on the TLC reality television show, Jon and Kate Plus 8 sought a new lawyer after his prior counsel asked to withdraw from the case. His new attorney, Mark Jay Heller, gained notoriety during his career for representing infamous clients such as the Son of Sam killer David Berkowitz and Manhattan Madam Kristen Davis, Philadelphia's Fox affiliate Channel 29 reports.

Heller immediately began discrediting rumors by Gosselin's former nanny which claimed that she had a sexual affair with Gosselin during his marriage.

"The tabloids don't need a stimulus package from President Obama," Heller said this week. He continued that the story told about his client is "sensational regardless of whether or not it is verifiable or true."

Gosselin's ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, filed for divorce in June claiming that her marriage, which lasted 10 years was "irretrievable broken."

Research by the National Center for Health Statistics reported that in 2008, there were 3.5 divorces for every 1,000 people in the United States.(U.S.)
