A Minnesota man pled guilty to a DUI charge this week, after being arrested in August 2008 for operating a La-Z-Boy recliner while intoxicated.

Dennis LeRoy Anderson, a 62-year-old from Proctor, was apprehended by police after maneuvering his engine-powered chair into a parked car, the Duluth News Tribune reports. The man was coming from a bar where he admits drinking eight or nine beers, according to court documents. Upon finding the snug motorist, police measured his blood-alcohol level to be 0.29 - more than three times Minnesota's legal limit of .08.

Anderson said he was driving fine until a woman jumped on the back of his La-Z-Boy, causing the collision.

Proctor Deputy Police Chief Troy Foucault said the chair was powered by a converted Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine. The vehicle also featured a stereo, cup holders, different power levels, a National Hot Rod Racing Association sticker and a small steering wheel, rising from the middle of the seat.

Anderson has one prior DUI conviction, though it is unclear whether it occurred in a chair of other vehicle, says the USA Today.

By consequence of his guilty plea, the man will serve two years probation and must surrender his chair, which will be auctioned off by police at an unspecified date.
