Legal NewsFemale Cop Files Sexual Harassment LawsuitMonday, August 17, 2009 at 03:50 PM A female police officer has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against a police department after she received inappropriate computer messages from her superior.
Officer Lisa Capocci, who works for the Concord Police Department in California, stated in the suit that she received messages from a corporal in her department that she deemed inappropriate. These alleged messages contain statements such as "I love you" as well as "detailed compliments" about the officer's figure, according to the suit. However, after Capocci reportedly filed a claim with the department about the sexual harassment, she states that she was taken off her position as a K-9 officer and was subjected to numerous "unfounded" Internal Affairs investigations. Also included in the suit was the confirmation from an independent investigator who Capocci hired that the corporate made inappropriate comments to her and that only "minimal discipline was applied." This is the third sexual harassment suit in recent history the California city has had to deal with. In 2007, two former female police officers filed a lawsuit stating they both suffered "severe and continuous gender-based harassment." ![]() |
