Legal NewsDUI: Six Car Crash Injures 18Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 03:13 PM A man from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was arrested Monday for his part in a six-car crash which left 18 people injured in Tennessee.
Randy D. Zlobec allegedly crashed his pickup truck into the rear of a Mazda Protege, resulting in a domino effect which damaged six vehicles, the Myrtle Beach Sun Times reports. Of those injured during the crash, three victims were taken by Lifestar helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and are reportedly in critical condition. The remaining 15 victims were treated by emergency medical service crews in the Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. Zlobec, who was allegedly drunk at the time of the crash, had bail set at $250,000. He was charged with counts of DUI, failure to stop and render aid, reckless driving, criminal impersonation, and not wearing a seatbelt, according to Sevierville, Tennessee police. Police officials said that the drive of the pickup truck fled the scene of the collision on foot and waded across a nearby river before being apprehended on the river's far bank. The crash occurred at about 11:50 a.m. Monday on Highway 66 in Sevierville, Tennessee. ![]() |
