28-Year-Old Pleads Guilty to Fatal Child Abuse

A Jackson, Mississippi man who was accused of the 2007 shaking death of his 4-year-old son reportedly pleaded guilty to the crime today.

Christopher Brown, Sr., 28, was charged with capital murder for the death and will now be sentenced on July 27.

According to the ClarionLedger.com, on Monday Brown entered a best-interest plea to the felonious child abuse charge through his attorney Aafram Sellers. The lawyer explained to the news provider that the plea meant his client agrees with the court that there is enough evidence to "possibly convict him at trial," but he doesn't admit to the criminal act.

"There are unique circumstances involving this case," Sellers said.
In past court proceedings, Jackson police reportedly testified that the child, Christopher Brown Jr., had previous injuries when he was found that included two broken bones in his legs, two broken fingers and possibly broken ribs, states the article.

At the defendant's preliminary hearing, detective Tyree Jones testified that Brown told police he was playing with the baby and tossing him in the air on the day of the alleged incident.ADNFCR-1918-ID-19265409-ADNFCR
