A former contestant on American Idol was struck and killed after she was struck by a vehicle driven by a man who was reportedly leaving the scene of an earlier car accident.

Alexis Cohen, who may be remembered for the nickname Glitter Girl she garnered on the show, was reportedly hit by 23-year-old Daniel Bark as he was leaving the scene of a previous car accident that occurred in a parking lot.

Police told the Star-Ledger the incident occurred approximately at 4 a.m. on Saturday and that the suspect was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant at the time.

Ocean County, New Jersey prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said a Seaside Heights police officer on bicycle patrol attempted to stop Bark after he allegedly hit a parked car in the parking lot.

He reportedly fled the scene and turned right onto Bay Boulevard traveling north in the southbound lane.

"That was the location where, unfortunately, Miss Cohen was a pedestrian as best as we can make out and where the collision occurred," Ford told the news provider. "Miss Cohen was apparently walking around the southbound part of the roadway."

Bark was reportedly charged with death by reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.ADNFCR-1918-ID-19286008-ADNFCR
